Yeah, some people like that, depending on how much they happen to be interested in those hobbies.
More often tho, it seems people like being asked about their interests/hobbies/projects.
In conversation, I try to summarize my current projects/hobbies briefly. If they ask questions, I elaborate and explain more. If not, I ask them what they've been working on lately.
This approach works more reliably than just telling people about my hobbies.
I also think it's best if you can demonstrate your hobby, rather than talk about it. For example, I keep a sketchbook with me and let the pictures do the talking, if they're willing to look. Some hobbies, like magic tricks, juggling acts, dance styles, and music, have the advantage that under the right circumstances you can SHOW it, not just talk. You can do this with non-entertainment related hobbies too. For example, I'm a mechanical engineering student, but I carry with me a camera with photos of the vehicles & machines I work on, so I can show them to ppl to make the conversation more interesting, and help avoid long wordy descriptions.
