This is just a random observation. Normal people (not NTs, just the human race in general except me) seem to know people who they have known for a long time. Some people grew up in the same town all their life. They often still have the same best friend that they have known since kindergarten, or since they were born, even.
I have none of that. My family are the only people who I have known consistently throughout my life. I was born in Portsmouth down south, I have been to school in Devon and later Wales. Then I moved to Yorkshire, it's the longest I've ever lived somewhere. I went to the same primary school for years, then I went to a different secondary school and never saw people from primary school again, then I switched schools so I'm now back with my best friend from primary school (who appears to dislike the way I've changed in the past two and a half years). I have never had the same group of friends consistently for more than a few years.
My past will be erased once more when I turn 16, cos if they think I'm sticking around in this dump they've got another think coming. But that will be a GOOD change, cos I'll be in charge of where I want to go.
The weird thing is, I kinda like it that people don't know my past. The reason I resent my family quite a lot is possibly because they were there when I was a kid, so being around them makes me feel like a kid, which I hate.
I was annoyed that someone at my old school told people at my new school that I'm a vegetarian, so once again I'm already a freak. God, erase the ONE good thing about moving on, why don't you?
I don't really know what I'm saying, this is just a random mess of thoughts, LOL.

I love my relatives, but when we're together, to them I'm still the gawky, awkward, clumsy tween they knew me as 40 years ago!
They don't see my accomplishments or how successful I've become (unless I pick up the check).
Now we're separated by 3000 miles, and we miss each other only enough to talk on the phone 3 or 4 times a year. They know none of my friends, and vice-versa, and I like it that way.
Best Wishes.

In regards to the past friendship issue: I can totally relate.

well everyone in my family has problems i guess. the old saying rings true, "you can pick your friends, but you cant pick your relatives!" i guess for an aspie it would read, "you can't pick your friends, but you cant pick your family either!" reguardless my family pretty much sucks. my mom (while i do like her) is a complete bird brain! my real dad is a loser and my stepdad thought me and one of my sisters were boyfriend&girlfriend growing up! so this pretty gives you an idea how creepy this dude is. me and my two biological sisters are Ok. one of my half sisters and brother are also alright and i generally have a good relationship with my siblings, dealing with my real dad recently its quite clear he never wanted a family and escaped by being in the army for 14 years who gets his sister to do all his talking for him! lies lies lies is all i gotta say

while i can't really relate to your problem since i'm still friends with people i went to elementary school with and get along great with my parents, i can say that being a vegetarian doesn't make you a freak. at least 75% of the students at my college are vegetarians. lol. they don't even sell meat here.
