I was wondering if any one else constantly clears their throat.

I did this for a year or two when I was a kid. It bugged everyone else and even started to bug me. Then I realised it was simply a habit I'd formed and that I could cough or swallow instead of clear my throat and it would have the same effect. So I did that instead and that seemed to stop the habit.

I do it all the time. It always feels like there's something in my throat or lungs. When I have something to drink though I don't do it as much.

I clear my throat a lot. I constantly feel like my throat is obstructed so have to clear it before speaking. I can do it silently but it's not as effective.

It is more associated with ADHD. That said, I have had this problem since I was a child, and it rarely goes away for any length of time. However, I do have problems with focus and attention, and my energy levels seem to be almost childlike. Avoiding dairy proteins seems to help. This is not necessarily related to the casein/gluten theory, which I understand many to be highly skeptical of. It's whey proteins. They are used to synthesize mucus.

Yes, I cough a lot. It was worse when I was a teenager and my allergies were worse. Even now I suspect that this problem ranks near the top of the things holding me back socially. It sucks! Why can't my respiratory system be normal like everyone else's?

I try not to do it too much around other people, and do clearing, blowing my nose etc. in the restroom. Exercise also helps, even though I usually cough more for a short while after running. Coughing is a necessary clearing mechanism to keep the lungs from filling up with dust and mucus, but could it also be a sensory issue?

clearing your throat is very normal for those with OCD and Tourettes, its a way of stimming, or calming yourself during those most stressful moments, also if you have tourettes and are doing its hell lol. I had a throat clearing tic for a bit, also a coughing tic, shoot me now, my poor throat was prob saying wtf is going on up inside ur brain, STOP CLEARING me lol.

I do kind of notice mid-sentence sometimes it gets caught in my throat and I have to clear it to continue.

you dont have to have tourettes or full blown ocd, but throat clearing is usually most common with those diagnosis's. A lot of people on the spectrum though seem to have some type of OCD, even if its mild. Either way hope u find a remedy for it, so it doesnt bother ur throat, unless u dont mind it, then in that case welcome to weird stims hahaha.
