Well done. It made me teary-eyed as I work so hard to have my son understood properly. It is, indeed, a duanting task.
Beautiful.
Finely tuned.

It IS a daunting task and I've been trying to get a message out to at least a few people to help educate the public. It's so hard to explain our condition to someone who "just doesn't get it."

Well, you know, the DSM DOES say self help skills, etc... and DOES say VERBAL! So you ARE kind of passing a few myths, even if "doctors" spread them as well.

Most of us are verbal (can speak.) That is a fact.

We do have verbal deficits. My communication deficit is great. But, I can speak.

You shouldn't have had "Autism" at the start, rather "Asperger's" should have been there.

There's a decent percentage of individuals with "Autism" who are nonverbal as adults (I think it's around 18% of those diagnosed with Autistic Disorder, which is "Autism" to most people).
