Do you guys hate do research papers as much as I do? For one thing, collecting all the research in the first place is a pain. The second problem is sifting through all that data to pull out the information you need. The third problem is relating it all and writing a research paper that meets the length requirement. On these sorts of things, I tend to procrastinate; and, when I do get on to working on them, I tend to become bored and frustrated at the tedium of it all.

I am currently taking yet another break from doing a research paper for my syntax class on the French clitic ne. All the writings I've collected are real snores to read through. I'm not particularly interested in where ne fits in some theoretical syntax tree, frankly.

This paper should come in at around eight pages doublespaced, but right now even reaching four pages is a struggle. I'm basically plopping in as many data charts as I can and writing verbosely.

I'm going through the same thing you are right now.

I have a rough draft due for a research paper in my english 347 class monday. This paper has to be 8 - 12 pages long and has made every other paper I've written so far look like a walk in the park.

I've been working on it now for 5 hours. I've got the brightness and contrast on my monitor turned down to a rediciously low level to keep my Irlen eyes from frying. Plus I've been taking time outs everynow and then (like checking here) to keep my sanity and as I try to synthesize all my research into a paper.

The problem I have been having stem mainly from the fact that my english teacher has been unable to connect with me on my level when I ask for her advice, and thus has been of little help to me. Her answer to my questions have always been "use your best judgment" or "this is not something in which I can give you a difinitive answer to".

And these are question relating to using sources and avoiding incidental plagarisim. The university frowns greatly upon plagarisim, even incidental, and the punishment for it is automatic expulsion, with no chance for re-admitance.

So tomorrow when I meet with her to review my rough draft, I'll probably have to redo most of it.

And then I have another paper yet still to type up for another class.

This is going to be the longest week of the year for me.

I am also doing a research paper, but atleast it's on a topic that interests me- Asperger's Syndrome :) .

You guys may remember that I asked for interviews awhile back. Unfortunately, since my teacher took so long to reply to me, that was no longer an option. But I did use the suggestions as far as sources to check out from some people. I am mainly focusing on the theory of mind. Otherwise, this paper would be 20+ pages, when it's supposed to be 8-10.

Even so, I have a hard time focusing, as well. I take frequent breaks (between every few paragraphs) to keep my brain from melting.

I love research papers. I want to be a research librarian. It's fascinating to me.
