THERE IS NO MYSTERY, PART 2
If I sounded too arrogantly sure of myself in the last post it wasn’t intentional (story of my life ). It seemed to bring out bitter resentment and sarcasm from a few people. Anyway, I just saw that in the Television, Film and Video section (post “do you look like a pop star, celebrity, actress or actor”) members listed the celebrities they resemble and several names from my list showed up (Elvis Presley, John Cusack, Johnny Depp, Mary Stuart Masterson, Catherine Zeta Jones, anime characters, etc.) which goes some way to corroborating the theory. It’s more than a coincidence. Not everyone with developmental delay necessarily stims, toe walks, memorizes train schedules, avoids eye contact and has meltdowns, etc., but can still have an intense nervous system and an interest in a creative field that puts this nervous system to use: acting, painting, music. (I just read an interview with the male lead from Twilight -- he was on the list only for having this appearance, since I didn't kow anything about him -- and he describes himself in a way that seems distinctly aspie.)
If you resemble Depp, Masterson or anyone else on the list, stand and be counted.
