I had a Psychologist that said I have Dyssemia and now a Psychiatrist that says I have Asperger's Syndrome and adult ADHD. My Psychiatrist has given me a prescription to Lamotrogine. I am scared of the results of taking medication. I know that treatment is controversial but I am tired of being alone and tired of having my mom come to "fix" my life every 3 months.

There are side effects of that which patients aren't informed of. Tourrettism would be an example of that. I developed it and it hasn't gone away.

I take that pill too, beware of the rash, it can be scarring, I'm glad I didn't get it, but it's the worst thing to look out for with that medication.

I've been on Lamictal for two and a half years for my bipolar disorder. It has worked like a wonder drug, allowing me to "wake up" from a lifetime of mood cycling. I'm not sure how it would do for other applications, such as you describe.

The rash is not just a scarring problem. It is life threatening. It often results from titrating up the dosage too quickly, skipping a few days of taking it and then taking the same high dose you took before, etc. It is rare but it is nothing to take lightly. I'm grateful I never got it.

Don't take life so seriously. It isn't permanent!

I take Lamictal for my AS mood swings. It has helped calm me down a lot. I don't get as angry anymore, and my breakdowns are less frequent. My doctors thought I was cyclothymic before my AS diagnosis, so that's why a mood stabilizer was suggested. I have zero side effects from the Lamictal. I was worried about the rash, too, but my psychiatrist just told me to be on the lookout for anything rash-like. If you do that for the first few weeks and immediately report any rash as soon as you find it, it will be okay.
