Since we Aspies are so "known" for our sensory "issues," and since I've not seen a post about food issues specific to Aspies...

A. Most desirable food flavors (at least 3)

B. Most desirable food textures (at least 3)

Mine...

A. No specific order

Almond
Vanilla
Curry
Coconut
Chocolate
Dill
Salt (don't know or care if that's considered a flavor)

B. No specific order

Ice cream
Filet mignon, medium well
Colby cheese
Slow cooker/simmered beef/lamb
Cream of white/rice

C. Your least likeable flavors? (at least 3)
D. Your least likeable textures? (at least 3)

C. No order

"Ranch" dressing
Cinnamon
Hazelnut
Shrimp

D. No order

Shrimp
Fat/gristle
Cooked onions (they're like tapeworms!)
Cooked chunks of tomato (like eating placenta!)

As for flavours, it isn't really an issue. I'm a partial anosmic. Any flavour I can taste more than slightly is disconcerting.

As for textures, I would say that combinations are what make a difference for me. For example, while dry and crunchy is a wonderful texture, wet and crunchy (i.e. any vegetables) is absolutely terrible. I like food with a distinctive and irregular texture I can manipulate while I eat it, but the way solid wet foods come apart in the mouth is truly disgusting. Also, different combinations of texture in a food are very uncomfortable.

Mine...

A. No specific order

Saskatoon berries
combo of corn chips, salsa and a melty cheese with lime.
pomegranate berries, juice or crystal lite beverage drink
a beautifully ripe Camembert cheese, green seedless grapes and wheat thins
ripe mango or starfruit
Jamacian Jerk seasoning (allspice, Scotch bonnet peppers, thyme, soysauce and lime)
popcorn with a nibble of blue cheese
perfectly seared sushi grade tuna with tamari and lemon juice
medium rare sirloin steak with A1 Sauce.
cashews with sea salt
home grown tomatoes

B. No specific order

Best quality boutique style ice cream with real cream, sugar and eggs
Hominy (Yellow, not White)
pate
Malt O Meal Chocolate Cereal
fried chicken gizzards
quiescently frozen fruit pops
honest to gawd tree ripened peaches with or without cream (so thick you have to spoon it on)

C. Your least likeable flavors? (at least 3)
D. Your least likeable textures? (at least 3)

C. No order

Brazil nuts
peanut butter
beef liver
strawberry anything that isn't real home grown strawberries
green bananas

D. No order

Sin...Having consumed both cooked onion "strands" and cooked tomato chunks, I have never had any need to actually consume tapeworms and/or placenta....because having consumed the former I already know :wink: what the latter must be like! {vomiting}

I had forgotten about pomegranate, lime, and cashews. Might have to add them to my list, too...(you'll have to forgive me--down here there is so little to choose from, and so much therefore to 'dream' about, that it's easy to forget a lot!)...

Sinsboldly is what my creative writing teacher called my essays. I wrote and didn't care much about grammar and spelling or even the fact that being dragged up in a post dust bowl Kansas didn't teach me proper English. He said I 'sinned boldly' and I used the name. If I would ever name myself again, it would be another old favorite "ChinaShopBull."

I am on a strict low to no fat diet, and as I have lost 62 lbs since October, I can only say it is working. So I just dreamed all the foods I love and haven't had for ages. Oh, yeah, and Pomegranates are my favorite but they are seasonal and I could eat them. I guess Saskatoon berries will be the next delicacy but they only grow in a special place on my friends farm far far away.

However, I digress.

vivid imaginations I also have about more than food!

Cool screen name, and cool story behind it.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Quite an impressive amount to have lost.

Funny how you have touched on two of the reasons that posting this topic occurred to me to begin with: being on a diet myself (since I've gained about 15 pounds since getting here), and being in a place where the food is nearly crime-against-humanity-grade.

"Freshies" as fresh fruit/vegetables are referred to where I'm at, are an incredibly rare commodity unfortunately. I have NEVER craved simple fruits/vegs as I currently am...and we have several months left before returning to "the world." :(

Take care, see ya 'round... :)

A. Most desirable food flavors (at least 3)
No particular order. :)
Pomegranate (absolute favorite)
Chocolate
Cantaloupe (muskmelon)
Melon in general
Corn
Chicken
Rice
Green tea ice cream
Jelly belly beans
Coconut
Vanilla
Paprika
Pickles
Raspberry
Blue-raspberry

B. Most desirable food textures (at least 3)
Corn on the cob
Puffed rice
Frosted mini wheat (I love the difference between the wheat and the sugar frosting)
Green peppers
Carbonated stuff like pop rocks and soda
Lettuce
Apples (crispy, not the soft ones. Soft apples are gross)
Ice
Cooked white rice
Nori (the seaweed that’s wrapped in sushi)

C. Your least likeable flavors? (at least 3)
Mayonnaise
Bitter things like certain lettuces
Walnuts
Pecans
Brussels sprouts
Blue cheese
Eh…make that most cheese
Milk
Onions
Green beans

D. Your least likeable textures? (at least 3)
Mayonnaise again (so slimy and…reminds me of mucus)
Nuts in my ice cream
Cheese Whiz (again with the slimy...I hate things that have a mucus-like texture)
Soggy bread
Smoked/raw salmon
Lima beans
Cheap after dinner mints (chalky)

Oh, I don't know. This is hard because I don't generally think about it... I either eat something, or I don't/can't eat something.

A. Most desirable food flavors (at least 3)

B. Most desirable food textures (at least 3)

Mine...

A. No specific order

Cheese, cheesy cheese. I like cheese. American cheese, sharp cheddar...
Chocolate
Greasy food
Most chicken
Sweet, sweets. Candy. Sugar is good.
Salty salt. I like salt too. Though not too much. I like french fries.

B. No specific order

Crunchy, dry
Crunchy, wet
Chewy (like laffy taffy and gum, but not other things.)
Smoothness (like the skin on a washed apple.)
Melty (IE, ice cream.)

C. Your least likeable flavors? (at least 3)
D. Your least likeable textures? (at least 3)

C. No order

Fake grape flavored things
Citrusy/oranges (with the exception of orange juice, which I like.)
Fake watermelon flavored things
Fruity flavored gums, most of it is gross
Bitter things
Extremely sour things
Anything that is "too spicy" (IE, nothing above, say mild salsa or those Chipotle BBQ snack wraps from McDonald's.)

D. No order

Most "mixed food", with few exceptions ("Mixed food": think, say, lasagna)
Meaty, fleshy (sometimes I have trouble eating my main source of protein [chicken] because of this.)
Fizzy, carbonated (IE, soda, it hurts my throat. Exceptions being if it has something in it that makes it go down my throat smoother, IE, Red Bull.)
Greasy to excess (thus, in conflict with myself because I like greasy food... and people always tend to put too much grease in greasy food.)
Fatty, yuck
Chewy meat (IE, "dark meat".) Ewwwwwww. I can only eat white meat chicken. DX
Slimey
Too much gushy liquidy (IE, watermelon.)
