I'm curious to see how 'NTs' and the AS- and autism-diagnosed compare. 'Vegetarian' means excluding meat, not necessarily dairy.

It would be impossible for me to give up meat. I love meat. I understand vegetarians though. The ones I don't understand are vegans. How is eating ice cream a form of animal cruelty? I think some people need to realize that people are more important than animals.

Very short version:
The reasons vegans tie dairy products to animal cruelty is 'cause of the way some of the cows are kept etc., they're not always kept in the best condition.
Apart from that most vegans feel that all animals should be treated with respect and since there are healthy alternatives when it comes to food/hygienic products/etc., they, as humans, can make the decision not to exploit other species for their own purposes as much as they can.

I am. vegetarian.

Meat is gross.

Tastes weird, chews weird and it has all these gross veins and blocky fat bits and icky stringy things...
not to mention the diseases that are sometimes tied to it.

The only meat (including fish) products I sometimes miss is fish sticks or tuna on pizza. But once I start chewing it... it all goes downhill from there, it's not worth it.

I've been a vegetarian for over three years now. Meat smells terrible to me, especially cow meat.

I became vegetarian because I find it hypocritical to eat something I couldn't bring myself to kill. I think the only animal I could really kill would be something like shrimp, but I don't care much for them, taste wise. I have no problem with killing bugs either, but I'm not inclined to eat them (though I have tried them).

Having AS can make you a picky eater...and sensitive to some tastes.

I can't eat most fruits and vegetables cause of the overstimulation it does to my taste buds.

I've only recently learned to cope with eating lettuce but only the green leafy parts and only if it's in a taco or sandwich when I can't taste the whole lotta it.

If an AS person is capable of overcoming these issues with their tastebuds and become a vegetarian crusader...good for them.

I haven't eaten meat since I was younger than 3 years old. Initially I didn't eat it because I despised the taste, smell and texture but now I don't think I would eat it even if I liked it.

i am nt.

i eat meat.

if god had not meant for people to eat animals then he would not have made them out of meat.

-or (in the interest of equal time)-

if humans are evolved to be vegetarians then animal would not have evolved to be so tasty

I used to be vegetarian, but now I need the protein from meat. If I didn't eat meat I would be a size 0, and that's not a good thing. I eat meat a lot. I only eat chicken, pork, sausages, etc. I don't like beef or anything that is hard to chew.

I respect vegetarians/vegans though.

Dairy cows in factory farms are abused, neglected & then after all that torture they are killed...for them it's probably a relief to die. :(
That's why I chose to abstain from eating dairy & eggs as well as meat. I also don't agree that people are more important than animals. Humans and other animals alike have the right to live in peace.

I used to be a vegetarian, and was briefly a vegan. Owing to my fixed income, lack of access to a good health food store within walking distance, and general mistrust of multivitamins, I gave up veganism very quickly. Nowadays, I am more of a locavore. I'll eat meat if the farm where the animal was raised is located within a 100 mile radius of my town. I also eat more bison than beef, as an economic incentive to keep the species alive. I abstain from fish though, out of concerns of overfishing and fish farms, and follow the general locavore pledge:

If not LOCALLY PRODUCED, then Organic.
If not ORGANIC, then Family farm.
If not FAMILY FARM, then Local business.
If not a LOCAL BUSINESS, then Fair Trade.

Red meat affects my mood, so I find it easier to say "vegetarian" than explain that I'm sensitive to it.
