I was just curious if anyone else found that they had more interests than would fit into the interests section? I could've used a couple hundred more characters!! Mostly because they were not interests that could be summed up in one or two words like "trains" or "computers" or "deep fat friers".

What are your interests? List them, describe them, make a flow chart.... whatever! Let's see what sort of "stuff" really makes your brain happy!!

I'm working on my "list" and will post it later this afternoon!! 8)

My main interests are (in no particular order):

geochemistry/hydrology/hydrogeology

gardening/perrineals

Origins of religions (particulary pagan ones)

UFO's and aliens (cover up stories and abduction cases mostly)

Bigfoot and other cryptozoology areas like lake monsters and chupacabaras (and many others)

Paranormal phenomenon of all varieties with emphasis on poltergeists and EVP

Vampires and other classic horror characters (I am particulary interested in vampire lore)

There are others, but they are more like "subtopics" that fit into these categories. Some of these categories can even be linked together by way of their subtopics, by the way. I guess that makes them all sort of "subtopics", really. With the exception of gardening, all of these areas of interest involve "that which is unknown". Perhaps this is my "true" area of interest.

Sometimes I wonder if it isn't just the acquisition of information......

Christianity (more focused in just the "rules" of it, however)
Books and Reading (I obtain books and make lists of them more than I read most of the time though)
Forensics and Mysteries (any kind of mystery story heavily focused on forensics)
Food labels (reading, comparing them)
Scrabble (word game)

Those are probably main ones but I go through some pretty fasssttt.

My interests are:

Italy
foreign countries in general
politics
20th century history

That list stays pretty much the same, but I have minor interests that evolve over time.

check profile.
interests: plants, music.

There are, of course, other things I'm interested in. But they pale in comparison to the overwhelming enormity of the plant world, and to a lesser extent, the music world.

works for me.

I voted for "10 or more special interests," because I have lots of areas of interest that I will ramble about if given the chance, but only a select handful of special interests are ones that are or have been all-encompassing. And these are what are listed in my profile. The reason I have such a long list of special interests is because, once I latch on to something, I like it forever. So, the list just has kept growing since my first special interests during my early, early childhood. Here's a longer list of my biggest special interests:
-I Love Lucy.
-Cedar Point and their roller coasters.
-A Beautiful Mind.
-Neuropsychiatric disorders and their biochemistry (specifically bipolar I mania, AS, and OCD).
-SpongeBob SquarePants.
-Ed, Edd n Eddy.
-Is it a Good Idea to Microwave This?
-Spanish.
-American history (specifically 1914-1945, the 1920s in particular).
-Frank Sinatra and his music.

And I have mild interests in lots of other things (like Super Mario games, Down with Love, Chicago, and some other TV shows), but they aren't as strong as the ones listed above.

Holy smokes! If I counted interests from childhood and adolescents.... well, the list would be CRAZY long. Definately in the 10 or more category. I actually chose the "5 or more (related)" category because my interests are all sort of related to things that are "unknown".

Here are some special interests from days gone by....

Childhood (3yrs - 10 yrs)

- PEOPLE AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! !
- indians and other "hunter gathering groups of people"
- China and its culture and people
- Japan and its culture and people
- Pilgrims (culture of the people and how they lived)
- Indians from India
- Pakastan (particularly weddings)
- Westward expansion "type" settlers (culture of the people and how they lived)
- Witches, fairies and fantasy monsters
- Duran Duran

Adolescents (11yrs - 18yrs)

- PEOPLE AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! !
- Most of the same interests mentioned from childhood (but not as intense)
- Punk music, culture and dress
- Goth music, culture and dress
- Classical music
- Piano
- Flute
- Choir
- Kurt Vonnegut
- Stephen King
- Whitley Streiber

There were other "minor" interests, but these are the big ones that took up most of my time.

My main special interest is anime characters, especially bishounen. I also love the phenomenon of imaginary friends. I just love gaining new imaginary friends for myself, as well as learning about other peoples'. But it's kinda hard to find other adults who have imaginary friends, even online, which is why I've recently created my own forum specifically catering to that. PM me if you want the link. :)

My other special interests are a bit strange:

Beavis & Butt-head
Showcases of bad websites (Portal of Evil, SomethingAwful's Weekend Web & Awful Link of the Day)
Christian Weston Chandler and his Sonichu comic
