Does anyone else have this? I don't mind attention (in fact, I used to be an actress on stage and would sing and so on) but if anyone got a camera out, I'd duck. Also, I can't stand looking at pictures of myself.

Is this common or just me? I'm not sure how to get over it or what causes it.

I always hate having my picture taken as well, i just look at the pictures and only seem to see the negative bits, like expressions that look odd.
also i hate hearing my own voice played back to me! (even though i love to talk to myself in private)

I dont either.
I think it kinda has to do with wanting to be solo. I feel very uncomfortable when people know me and I dont know them (like when they say 'i heard a lot about you'.) It makes me uncomfortable and very paranoid. So a picture is like a part of me out there that I can not keep track of.

I don't mind having photos taken. I find it interesting to see what I look like making different faces.

I love it. I'm a photographer myself and can never understand how someone won't want their picture taken if they'll never see it.
Both NT's/AS hate having their picture taken.

Unlike you, I very much dislike being in the public eye. I do kind of like some attention, though, especially when my ADHD is kicking in full force. lol

Anyway, I HATE having my photo taken. Strangely enough I took to photographing other people who didn't mind it and I always thought it was odd that anyone could be comfortable in front of the camera. I was most comfortable BEHIND the camera.

I hated having my pictures taken for a while because I hated my breasts, my body because I felt I was fat and looked big in the photos and I hated my smiles.

Knowing that I am incapable of being photogenic (sp?) or being able to naturally smile properly, I absolutely hate having pictures taken of myself after finding that when I try to smile in pictures I'm still not smiling. I hate looking at my face in certain pictures cuz my eyes always seem squinty and closed and not bright and open.

This goes along with my hatred of seeing and hearing myself on video.

Anytime I'd be in a show and publicity pics would need to be taken or people would take pictures afterwards, I'd either try to get out of it or say "That's fine, just don't let me see them."

Then I'd walk into the lobby of the theatre and cringe away at the sight of my own face on the posters.

Maybe I have severe image issues.

When i went to america, i had never heard of the "amish" before and they stand out like a sore-thumb, so i proceeded to take many pictures and they weren't that pleased :)

I never know what to do with my face.

I like taking my own pictures though.

I also cannot tolerate either of those things. I am not sure why. I even refused at work to have my picture taken for my ID. Although, I have always loved photography and cinematography of nature, it is a shame that there isn't much money in it.

i have a weird expression on my face sometimes (a lot more when i was younger) in pictures. I like taking pictures, but being photographed is hard for me.

Like others have said, i am ok with taking pics of myself, but deplore others taking my photo.
As a child it was torture and very frightening - just the intensity of it was horrific. so yucky.

these days I still hate it but can handle it.
