All aspies have social problems. No matter how mild it is.

People with AS experience impairments that have significant implications for social performance, so it is very common for them to be socially awkard.

However, just as a physically clumsy person (including one with motor-dyspraxia) can acquire proficiency in discrete areas of physical performance, so too most people with AS can acquire proficiency in discrete skills or behaviors necessary to social adeptness. I suspect few though are able to learn to emulate all the necessary components comprehensively and consistently, across a pervasive range of contexts. More common would be those who are proficient when not stressed, tired or distracted in particular interactions, but who retain large gaps and areas of poor performance.

If you know what AS is, then you already know the answer to this question, so I really don't know why you're feigning ignorance by asking.

Its pretty much the definition of the disorder, or at least its primary component. people with AS are still socially awkward and inept even after years of learning and observing and convincing themselves they're so good at pretending to be like everyone else that no one can tell the difference. It still shows through.

That doesn't mean we're fumbling idiots. Socializing isn't impossible, except for those who allow themselves to be overwhelmed by it. We're just not skilled. Its the subtleties that trip us up, like lying to friends in order to manipulate them, pretending to be what we aren't so we can betray coworkers without them suspecting - that sort of thing - we just aren't motivated by that sort of Machiavellian impulse.

Actually, for me the hardest part of socializing is pretending to find average people interesting.

So are these threads legit, or is this guy trolling us?
