That's the sort of thing I mean. I think people'd think twice if they knew they could be prosecuted, spend time in a federal prison and possibly lose the right to internet access (maybe for the rest of their life.) I really think a federal anti-internet bullying law is a good idea.
I disagree. This is going to cost money that nobody has. That isn't my main reason for disagreeing though. I disagree mostly because it is up to the parents job to take care of their children. Both the bullied and the bullies. Parents should make sure their child can cope with the internet. Besides, being bullied can still happen offline, it's just no longer anonymous (and depending on activities will likely have less frequency). Of course, there is more to it than that.
I know somebody who tried to commit suicide 3 times now due to peer pressure from peers NOT on the internet. I guess we need to outlaw that, right? People are killing themselves over it! Down with peer pressure! Outlaw it!
I'm insulted every time I do online activities with groups of anonymous individuals. I have been for the last 13 years (don't forget being teased in school all the time). It's because I'm different, even if they can't read it in person. I haven't tried to kill myself yet, and it's not like I have a wonderful family life, relationship, or anything. I know not everyone can be like I am naturally, sort of a resilience thing, but I believe people can be taught it.
You need to fight the cause, and the cause isn't the harassment. The cause is the reaction. People decide for themselves, not people for people.
