Exercise your knowledge and skills of reference!

The object of this game is to post examples of the extremes of the natural world.

As in:
The highest mountain in the world, by elevation above sea level, is Mt. Everest, at 29,029 ft.

You get the idea...
The highest, largest, widest, longest, shortest, smallest, wettest, coldest, driest, heaviest, oldest, etc. etc. etc.
Anything in the world of Nature.

OK, go.

The smelliest fruit in world is the durian.

The smell of durian is literally so strong that it’s presence has been banned in many of the hotels, airplanes, hospitals, and bus lines in southeast Asia. When travelling in Asia, it’s not uncommon to see actual “Durian Forbidden” signs at the enterances to public buildings.

The Oldest known living tree is a Norway Spruce discovered in Sweden in 2004. Apparently the visible portion of the tree is not considered ancient and is only 13 ft. tall, but it's root system has been estimated to have been growing for 9,550 years since the end of the last ice age. It's possible an older one has been found since this article was written in 2008, but I couldn't find anything else if it has lol

Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals 3410°C (6170°F) and boils at 5660°C (10220°F),
not even the hottest burning thermite can melt it.

I wonder how they know what the melting point is, if there is nothing hot enough to melt it

The largest tree-borne fruit in the world is the Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus).
It can reach up to 80 pounds in weight and may be up to 3 feet long and 20 inches in diameter.

According to:
http://www.eatnineghost.com/top-10-deadliest-creatures-on-earth/ the deadliest creature in the world is the mosquito. Some mosquitoes carry and transfer malaria causing parasites. As a result, these little pests are responsible for the deaths of more than two million people a year.
Scary huh!

Tungsten is not smelted by combustion but with the use of electric arcs or argon plasma torches
which can reach temps in excess of 20,000°F.

The town (geographic place---nature in a way) with the longest name is in Wales in the United Kingdom. It is named:

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

Ok...ok, that might not exactly be the nature stuff we're looking for here, so:

During a wild April storm in 1934, a wind gust of 231 miles per hour (372 kilometers per hour) pushed across the summit of Mount Washington. This wind speed still stands as the all-time surface wind speed record. (quoted from the Mount Washington Observatory website)
