Yeah - even the way they move isn't straight. 8)

Perhaps he is lurking in someone's castle moat?

Or in a rock pool by the castle on the beach...

Sounds right...he is probably annoying the anemones and starfish by clicking his pincers like castanets.

But in the meantime, Kiprobalhato has become a bleached blonde from Limone?

Perhaps said bleached blonde is from Finland or Russia? Possibly Etronalienel.

Mooms - is it true that a traditional Maori form of respect is to stick out one's tongue at the other person? Only heard of it today. :?

Have you managed to locate our friend from the tundra wastes, maybe using alternate communication media? Maybe he's still been having computer hassles?

We want him back! :(

Enviro, I think you might have your wires crossed a bit there. I am sadly lacking in knowledge of Maori culture (where's Murihiku when you need him?) but as far as I know, sticking the tongue out is more of a challenge - like this:

I think what you are thinking of is the hongi, the traditional greeting, where you press noses together, like this:

I have not heard from Krabo. I am hesitant to chase him down in case he feels like I am bothering him, but I may have to do it soon to check he is ok. I'm going to have to start sending him the bills for my hair dye, he is the cause of more than a few grey hairs now.

Murihiku's been moving house. Not the most pleasant experience, but thankfully it hasn't stopped him from accessing the Internet regularly. :P

But yeah, the tongue sticking out thing (with the wide eyes) is called a pūkana, and while it's most famous in the haka (which itself can be done as a form of respect), you also see it done in formal ceremonies that have a ritual challenge as well as in cultural performances. Heck, we even do it amongst ourselves for fun; it's especially cute when kids do it. The hongi is an unambiguously respectful greeting that Māori tend to do often, especially amongst ourselves.

Kinda missing the blue crab myself. And the blue aspirant. And the blue maple leaf. Hmmm, seems to be a pattern here ...

Yay, good timing Murihiku. I always feel hesitant answering 'Maori' questions in case you come in after me and tell me I am being stupid. :P

Have you finished moving now? All settled in?

8O It's a conspiracy. Quick, warn anyone with a blue avatar before they are 'disappeared' too. 8O

People have occasion to ask you Māori questions? Now that's progress. :P It's nice to see non-Māori getting to know more of our culture ? even if it's only a little bit, it's certainly a lot more than what other people knew when I was growing up in NZ.

As for moving houses, I moved out of my old place last Friday and I'm moving into the new one this Friday. So I'm spending one week with a family friend who has an extra room. I'll be glad when it's all done. But I won't have my usual Internet connection for another 1½ weeks due to my tendency to organise things at the last minute. So I'll be using my USB modem until then: it's more expensive for me, but that's what happens when you procrastinate on important things.

Not really, just places like here, where as a 'resident NZer' sometimes I am asked just because I am here. Like enviro asking me about the pūkana. I need a 'Murihiku signal' (kind of like the Bat Signal) so I can get you here in an emergency when I don't know the answer.

Oh well, good luck with the second part of your move. I hope you are settled and with proper internet soon. :D
