How Do You Make Goula or Gula (or Sago Pudding)?
Ingredients:
2.5 litres/5 pints/10 cups water
300 g/10 oz/2 cups sago
2 Tbsp fresh milk or coconut milk
pinch of salt
Instructions:
Bring the f*****g water to a fast boil and slowly dribble in the f*****g sago. Let it boil fast for 5 to 7 f*****g minutes. Turn off f*****g heat, cover the f*****g pan with a well-fitting lid and leave for 10 f*****g minutes. The f*****g sago will finish cooking in the stored f*****g heat and the f*****g grains will become f*****g clear. Run cold f*****g water into the f*****g pan, stir, then pour the f*****g contents of pan into a f*****g sieve, shaking the f*****g sieve so the f*****g water runs off.
Put f*****g sago into a f*****g bowl, stir in f*****g milk and add f*****g salt. This f*****g quantity of milk is just enough to give it a f*****g pearly white appearance. Divide between individual f*****g dessert dishes or moulds, or pour into one larger f*****g mould and chill.
Serve the f*****g sago accompanied by palm f*****g sugar syrup and f*****g coconut milk in separate f*****g jugs.
Yield: Serves 6 to 8
