Great Western Railway

The original one of course, associated first and foremost with the legendary 19th Century British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Lines ran from London Paddington station to places like Bristol, South Wales, Swindon, Exeter, etc.

When the system was nationalized in the late 1940s, it was known as the 'Western Region'.

H - the 'Hurricane Turn' train, a train in South America, currently operating. Operates at 59mph and goes from Talkeetna
to Hurricane Gulch.

I - Intercity 125, aka HST (the High Speed Train).

Introduced in the UK in 1976 on services between London Paddington and Bristol/South Wales, was the fastest diesel service in the world at the time, and the second fastest train overall behind the Japanese Shinkansen 'Bullet Train'. I travelled on one of these from Paddington to Bristol in June 1977, and it completed the first 77 miles to Swindon in 45 minutes. I wonder how many of the trains running in this country can match that even today.

J - (the) Jiří Bouda train, a train from Czech Republic, currently operating, going from the capital of Czech Republic - Prague to Brno, a city in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic.

Kent and East Sussex Railway

A 'heritage' line, running over part of a route that was closed down under British Railways in 1961. The present line runs from Tenterden to Bodiam.

L - Lilac Train (ライラック, Rairakku), a train from Japan, first operating on the 1st of June 1963 and is currently operating, running from Sapporo train station to Asahikawa train station.

M - Mordoviya (Мордовия) train, a passenger train from Russia, operating from 1995 to the present, the train run's from Moscow Kazansky train station to Saransk train station.

N - Nasuno train (なすの), is a train service operated on the Tōhoku Shinkansen by East Japan Railway in Japan. The Nasuno train travels from Tokyo to Kōriyama, a medium-sized city approximately 225 km north of Tokyo.

I dont know if there was ever a real train of that name or not. But its a great old American song.
