at the time the movie was released in 1969, only one Hollywood movie filming at the time got away with using the F word, and that was M*A*S*H. and the real patton had an absurdly alto voice compared with his comparatively severe countenance. the first choice [rod steiger]'s voice was somewhat closer. and forget about lee marvin.

I've never heard that Lee Marvin was ever considered.

You can't catch a cold up at the North Pole because it's too cold for the germs to survive up there.

At least that's what I read... so, I guess if you want to avoid a cold or flu this winter you'll have to stay outdoors in sub-zero temperatures all the time. Then you'll only have to worry about things like frostbite and hypothermia and maybe starvation and/or dehydration...

if ya wanna stay skinny in your old farthood, then exercise outdoors in the winter with abbreviated clothing, this activates "brown fat" which raises metabolism and burns more calories.

Butterflies can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.

-Termites are the only one of the three main "social insects" (termites, ants, bees) to have both a king and a queen. The king lives on to continue mating with the queen while the male ants and drone bees all die.

-You can sing the lyrics to "Amazing Grace" perfectly to the tune of "Gilligan's Island".

-Tinkerbell of Disney's Peter Pan was modeled after Marilyn Monroe.

- If a vampire bat is too sick to fly or feed by itself the other bats will keep it from starving by regurgitating blood for it (gross, eh? :D )

little roger and the goosebumps did a parody of led zep's "stairway to heaven" called "stairway to Gilligan's island" where the stairway to heaven melody was attached to the lyrics to the title theme from "Gilligan's Island." this song was banned in England, btw when led zep's lawyers got wind of it.

When the movie "Clockwork Orange" was released, there were incidents of violence supposedly modeled after those in the movie. After he read about these incidents, Stanley Kubrick personally requested that the film be withdrawn from circulation in the UK. It was unavailable for showing for quite a while.

These days, its considered a comedy.....

The movie was very outrageous for its time. It not only featured brutal violence, but full frontal female nudity, rape, and the menage a trois scene.

Stanley Kubrick never got an Oscar for best Director.

Stanley Kubrick's original conception of "AI-Artificial Intelligence" was markedly different from Steven Spielberg's completed product.

Just checked and this makes me sad.
Stanley Kubrick won an Oscar for Best Special Effects for 2001 A Space Odyssey.
And that's it. One Oscar for a man many regard as a true film genius.
2001 lost the the Oscar for Best Picture to ......... Oliver.
Maybe if Stanley had the astronauts do a song and dance number, he might have gotten it.

the academy awards are a butt-kissing political farce. that is one of the reasons that woody allen has boycotted them for most of the past 40 years.

Consider Christopher Lee, who has been in over 200 films, and never even nominated....
(I still think he was a very scary Count Dracula.)
