Russia keeps provoking other nations. They have their fighter planes fly too close to civilian airliners and fly close to other nations' borders. They're behaving like rebellious teens. You know, the real reason Soviet fell was that their economy was in ruins. Now they're doing a little better and so they wish to expand their empire again, as we've seen in Ukraine.
Despite the cold war, things were safer and more stable in the 80's and earlier.
