I had a quick peek at the wikipedia article about the book, something about an utopia that was actually more like an distopia. That guy being some expert on knowledge from the time before society he lives in became a controlled utopia. If you met him and get to know what he knew I wouldn't be surprised you'd became sick-of-it-all depressed in a heartbeat.
