I was thinking that it is one continuous ladder that passes through holes in catwalks.
The suits are fairly strong but they can be punctured by sharp things. If they do then no air would escape unless it were right next to the helmet because it uses elasticity instead of air pressure, it would just expose a but of your skin to space which would be rather painful and leave a mark but it's not life threatening unless the hole is quite large. The gloves would be punctured in a scenario where someone's hard would get a nasty cut of the gloves weren't there, so it's not too likely but definitely possible if someone wants to do that.

The group arrives to a part where the ladder is destroyed and there is a lot of damage on the pillar that they are scaling. There are many twisted structural beams around the place and the huge structural beams running down the center are exposed. At this point the gravity is noticeably weaker at just over 0.6g.
Mike stops and takes a moment to breathe. When he checks his oxygen levels he sees that just over half of it is gone, but figures that they will make it because they would be able to go faster and use less energy and by extension less oxygen when the gravity gets lower. Once he catches his breath he says "Well, here comes the 'fun' part. Who here has ever been rock climbing? Don't worry, this should be easier because the gravity is lower and there are more things to grab. It also should be noted that if you fall then you will not just go until you hit the bottom, you will travel in a strait line while the station continues to rotate and... It's complicated and it takes a while to get used to, but the point is the Coriolis effect will make you fall a bit to one side such that you will hit the side of the pillar and if you are careful and/or lucky you should be able to land on a catwalk without breaking anything. Hopefully nobody will have to try."
Mike folds out the plier hand tool on his robotic arm and uses it to help him climb because it can more effectively grab onto the twisted metal, and then he begins the treacherous accent.
