some of them leave a big inflation, but it's rare.

Sadly the great sandworms start out real tiny, so I don't think they'll usually make much impact on their surroundings at that stage. Unless they are different on Earth than they are on Arrakis. Or maybe if they came into contact with some mutagen... Hmm.... Interesting thought....
