I would only get a civil partnership for legal and financial reasons. The idea of getting married just because you love someone is an old fashioned out-of-date load of crap. It has too many religious aspects of it as well. So it would be purely a logical reason. And we wouldn't have a big party about it and get everyone to bring us presents. We'd treat it like we were signing a business contract.
