Duck penises are corkscrew-shaped.
When a female duck engages in coitus she is being "totally screwed"... :P  :P

Dung beetles are currently the only known non-human animal to navigate and orient themselves using the Milky Way. A species of dung beetle (the African Scarabaeus zambesianus) navigates by polarization patterns in moonlight, the first animal known to do so. Dung beetles can also navigate when only the Milky Way or clusters of bright stars are visible, making them the only insects known to orient themselves by the galaxy.

A species of parasitic bacteria has been found living on the surface of Actinomyces bacteria in human saliva.

It cannot live independently or reproduce without the host cell.

This discovery has created brand new sub-specializations within the disciplines of Microbiology and Genetics.

They were undetectable prior to the development of the method used to find them.

The idea of "soulmates" was originally conceived by the philosopher, Plato. He believed that humans were originally androgynous with 4 arms, 4 legs, and 2 heads. He said that Zeus feared that humans were too powerful in this form and that they might attempt to overthrow the gods so he had them split into their current forms of male and female. Thus, the idea of "soulmates" is all about finding your other half.

"I served in Baghdad and was confronted with the reality of the environmental impact of DU. In 2001, I saw in Geneva how a WHO mission to conduct on-spot assessments in Basra and southern Iraq, where depleted uranium had led to devastating environmental health problems, was aborted under US political pressure."

The earliest boats didn't have a central rudder at the back, they were steered by someone sitting at the back with an oar. As most people are right handed, this oar was usually placed from the right hand side of the ship. This became known as starboard (steering side) and boats used to dock in port on the other side which became known as the port side. Port and starboard always mean the relevant side of the ship from the perspective of someone in the ship facing the direction the ship is moving in. This isn't ambiguous whereas saying right side or left side is ambiguous depending on the perspective of the observer.

The first Ice Age movie was originally going to be a hand-drawn animated movie directed by Don Bluth, but he passed it off to Blue Sky Studios after Titan A.E. bombed at the box office.

After the vietnam war where america dumped so much dangerous crap over the foliage to try flushing the feisty locals out, there were so many birth defects that occurred from the long lingering herbicide that the poor deformed kids came to be known as simply ''The children of Agent Orange''.

burritos were invented for cowboys.
they needed a way to carry their lunch with them on the go, and corn tortillas couldn't hold their form over time. so the flour tortilla was created and then the burrito was born.

R.L. Stine never included divorce, drug use, or child abuse in his Goosebumps books because he wanted to make sure that kids understood they were reading a fantasy that could never happen in real life.

Jupiter is so massive that all the other planets in our solar system could easily fit inside it with room to spare.

There’s a reverse zoo in China where people are the ones locked up in cages. The Lehe Ledu Wildlife Zoo in Chongqing transports visitors in caged buses while the animals are free to roam in an effort to keep them happier and less stressed with longer lifespans.

Albino squirrels exist, including in Finland.

Have seen them myself.

In and around one tree near a bus stop I used to use to get to college I saw several regular eastern USA gray squirrels, and at least one melanistic (black) squirrel of the same gray species, and I saw two pink eyed albino squirrels (at first I thought that they were escaped pet lab rats, but then saw their bushy tails and realized that they lived there in the wild).
