Nopes, as 9gaggers call them, are scary dangerous creatures such as spiders and whatnot. Australia is notorious for being full of those things, so I wouldn't resist a day there without crapping my pants. When I see daddy longs legs I run faster than Usain Bolt on coke, so just imagine how I would react in the presence of a giant hissing tarantula...yikes!! !
But Australia is not the only nope-infested continent...such things exist in the Americas as well, such as the Brazilian wandering spider whose venom gives you a painful erection before killing you, no joke.
Ah, I was wondering why different people kept calling them that. Australia does have a fair bit of spiders, but you rarely see any poisonous ones; most of them are harmless, and there haven't been any spider fatalities here in decades. We don't have many tarantulas here at all, either. What you might not like are huntsmen and golden orb weavers, both of which are a little more common (but again, harmless). You also don't really see snakes of any sort, outside of zoos or rural/bushland areas.
I actually wonder what kind of reputation Australia has when it comes to dangerous animals. Everyone knows we have them, but I hope people don't think we live in constant danger from them. City life in particular is quite safe from most "nopes".
