Granted. However, the police misconstrue the meaning of the event, and have a raid. This traumatizes many of the individuals, who become agoraphobics.

I wish that I could live 100-200 years ago.

Granted. However, someone else files a patent first preventing you from manufacturing it. Worst of all, they just sit on said patent, pausing only to refile it at appropriate intervals. Thus, you never get to use your invention.

I wish that I could get a decent position in my field.

Granted your invention is no longer patented. However, in order to do so, it was made uninventable. Thus, you will never realize it.
