I like rain too. I love sitting in my bedroom when the rain is hammering on the roof.

I know what you mean about 'acid' Skilpadde. I was at the supermarket once, and there was some heavy rain. Everyone was stood at the exit not moving. I just walked out normally into the rain to get to my car, and they all looked at me as if I was crazy.

It's only water, people.

I'm currently staying in a flatlet with a zinc roof. It's nice and cosy when it rains, especially at night when in bed listening to the rain drumming on the roof.

I wish we'd actually get more rain and less wind.

We had some flooding two years ago and the local lakes and rivers all overflowed their banks. Lakeside Road was under water and blocked off for at least a kilometre and the road to my sister's cottage was also blocked off by a pond that flooded several nearby houses. . One of the main roads was closed for several days due to flooding of the little stream that runs under the road and I enjoyed running barefoot through the shallow flood water and not having to contend with traffic fumes, while it lasted. :D

IKR?

That reminds of summer 2003. Had spent a little more than a week in NYC, where it was really hot and humid, neither of which I like one bit. Even when it rained, the rain was warm and the thunderstorms didn't bring relief. When we came to England (we spent a few days there before going home), we were out one day when it started pouring. People around me ran for cover, while I just stood there, arms out and face up, and enjoyed the colder rain and the relief it brought (in a way showers didn't). It was so delicious!

I never stop going out from a store or elsewhere either, just because it rains. Maybe people fear they'll shrink like poor quality clothes in the rain

Or they will soak up the water like a sponge, get really huge, and their clothes will pop off, like The Incredible Hulk.

Maybe they are sponges! That would explain a lot.

So the English populace is mostly sandgrouses?

(Didn't you know they can store water in their belly feathers, to chicks far away from oases? Spongebirds!)

Yes, and so is most of the Norwegian populace as well.

Sure, there are plenty of reindeer here, and the occasional polar bear walking down the street.
But we also have 5 million sponges. And of course lots of fly amanita, which the Vikings used to get high.

I really enjoyed the Norway youtube videos you posted Skilpadde. I now have a 'Norway' file. And my ipad now recognises and suggests your name if I type it wrong. :D

But that one word is a very important one!

Here's a new word: sjokolade. I'm sure you can guess what it means!

Glad you liked the videos by the way.

^^^ Exactly the same in Afrikaans! There seem to be a number of similarities, so maybe someone who is familiar with Afrikaans would manage to learn some Norwegian without too many tears of frustration. Dutch, German and some of the dialects in that area such as Boarisch, are quite similar to Afrikaans. Notably Dutch and the Flemish dialects of course.

Why are you making me hungry for chocolate now? :(
