I think it is required by style, to make your expression a bit more stream-lined.

Yes, you can. The difference is subtle. You will be perfectly understood no matter which way you say it.

This is an excellent remark and I don't know the answer.

Moomingirl, I forgot to add that you are making remarkable progress in you language studies. Congratulations! - But now I got to make some lunch. My cat got hers at 4am, her lunch number one. There will be half a dozen sub-lunches. See you, I won't run away this time.

Sigh. I don't think so Krabo. I understand quite a lot now, just from spending a lot of time learning vocabulary on Memrise, and guessing at the meaning from the words I know. But I still struggle with building basic sentences.

I bought a new folder today, I had outgrown my original Finnish file. 8)

Nähdään huomenna. And yes, please, stay around this time. It's not the same without you here. Everyone else will say the same.

Krabo, who are the half a dozen sub lunches for? All for you?

Check out the link I posted on the We Love Enviro thread, and you may understand that this is not surprising!

Thank you for helping dear Moomin with her Finnish. I doubt one can ever "finnish" learning any language, including our own.

Oh, no. It is Norwegian that sounds impossible.

No :P

Danish, of course, sounds incredible.

Haha, yeah, you could say that again! Here some people say that they sound like they have a hot potato in their throat! I have an extremely hard time understanding Danish. I've had the misfortune of being asked directions from Danish tourists (or maybe they had the misfortune of asking me). I had a VERY hard time understanding them in both Danish and English. Yes, one of them retorted to English so I would get what he said. Rather similar in text, yet it sounds so different in speech...

Me and my cat, we share everything.

Yes. This rising tone at the end of some sentences seems to be a very Norwegian phenomenon. It was clearly discernible in Gro Harlem Brundtland's speech, at least it is her voice that I connect it to. (And yes, I do remember your first female prime minister.)

We do? I've never noticed that, at least not in other sentences than questions.

I too remember Gro Harlem Brundtland well. In particular the debates between her and Kåre Willoch. He was so calm and teasing, she was jumping with anger. Those debates amused the young Skilpadde. I saw her once IRL when I was 11. We were on vacation on Roa when we passed her.

Our only female president, Mrs. Tarja Halonen, once hurt her arm and went to see a doctor in a local small-town health care unit. There she was, queueing for the appointment ticket like any mortal.

I wish I could say that about our politicians. They might actually prioritize the healthcare then.

I also tried PMs with other browsers. No effect, they don't work.

Mooms, Murihiku introduced to me today some proposals for the new New Zealand flag. Did you design some of them, by any chance?

For some unfathomable reason I am talking to Skilpadde in Mooms' thread and to Mooms in Skilpadde's thread. And why should I care, you're as like as two peas.
