Guinan's mouth opens wide, a look of dawning comprehension crossing her features before she turns to face Laura. "That's an interesting question," she says, speaking French for the girl's benefit. "See, I'm not from here, just like Mike here isn't from here," she explains calmly, glancing toward Mike. Addressing the group, she asks, "What do trainers do here?"

(OOC: For the sake of everyone playing, Q won't interfere with anyone's actions except Guinan's. Even then, Guinan will have to operate within the rules of this world. She can't cheat or anything just because Q sent her. If Mike opens a wormhole, Q won't prevent that. If Guinan tries to leave though, she'll get sent right back so that the game can continue. If you want Q to interfere with your own actions, then you can play him as a mischievous being reeking havoc with whatever you want.)

OOC: To anyone who is confused, this is Lilli's backstory.
I have never seen Star Trek, so I kept this intentionally vague.

BIC:

There was a poor and helpless man who found two books one day.
Magic books which had the means to make some people pay.

The man became a vengeful man
and hid the books away.
The vengeful man made up a plan
and waited for the day.

There was a girl who wanted peace who was looking for a book.
She wanted to learn new techniques but knew not where to look.

The vengeful man had seen his chance and so a book he took.
He placed it where the girl could find within a little nook.

The girl had found the magic book among the shelves she scanned,
but when she read the book aloud
the girl had cursed the land.

When the girl saw what she did
she ran off with a yelp.
She came upon some travelers
who then she asked for help.

The travelers agreed with her
and traveled to the school
where she explained what happened--
She felt like such a fool.

The travelers had plenty, though,
inside their bag of tricks;
They said the girl was not a fool
and they could find a fix.

Among the travelers gathered there was one who went astray.
She read aloud the second book
which cast her far away.

The vengeful man, whose spiteful plan was meant to foil another,
had left behind the peaceful girl and sent away the other.

The vengeful man who saw his plan thought he controlled the strings
But 'twas the man behind the man
who set up everything.

"The man behind the man" is Q. "The one who went astray" is Lilli.

Does Lily know much of that backstory? Also, what's she doing now?)

"Hmm..." Laura thought. "You catch pokemon in those little balls," she pointed to the ball Gunnian was holding. "Make friends with them, and train them to battle others. Cool, right? I've been doing it since I was 10." She grinned. She continued to give a 'Welcome to the world of Pokemon' speech, showing off her sylveon.

(OOC: Any rules about starter pokemon for new players? I found a Wikipedia page with the pokemon yesterday.)
BIC: "Mike says you were part of a team that fought against some villains wanting to destroy this place," Guinan looked at Laura skeptically. "How did you manage that with one of these?" She taps the pokeball.

Laura sighed. If I defeat one in a pokemon battle, then they would have no choice but to give up. Press the button on the ball." She instructed.

"Know what, bud?"
Lilli turned to their new companion, putting on their best game face. "I'mma go talk to this kid."

Lilli really, really hated talking to new peeps-- heck, only reason they'd talked to Mike and Laura was because they had them cornered in a dark freaking alley at, like, ten o' clock at night.

"Ready, Skip?"
The bunny nodded military-like.
"Good." Skip hopped onto their shoulder and they stepped outside.

"Um, yo. Guys!" Lilli called. They jogged over to where the girl in purple was standing. It looked like a freaking cookout was happening.

They held out a hand. "I-I'm *huff* Lilli, and this is *huff* Skip. Nice to meetcha."
A human gesture, they remembered. Used for greetings and introductions.
"Sorry to interrupt your, er, spiel." they said glancing at Laura.

Anna sniffed Skip, and smiled, petting his head with one of her ribbon-feelers. "We were just talking~!" Laura chirped.

Mike listens to the conversation, taking in what Laura said about Pokemon training. Sam flies around scanning things.

Guinan shakes Lily's hand. "Nice to meet you, Lily and?" she looks at Laura. "I know you're the one that fought the battle, but I didn't catch a name. I'm Guinan, and..." As Guinan fiddles with the pokeball in the other hand, some words written on the pokeball glint in the sunlight. "What's this?" Guinan reads, "Dear Guinan, I'm on fire for you, love Q? No way, not in any universe Q!" and she presses the button and throws the ball away from where the others are standing.

To Guinan's surprise, the pokeball enlarges, and out comes a creature similar to a fox. "Fennekin!" the creature cries gleefully.

Lilli squeed. "Aww he's so cute!! !"

Suddenly a look crossed Lilli's face like they had an epiphany.
"I just had the greatest idea."

Well... They hesitated. They seemed to be pondering whether it wss a good choice to say this.
"Um, would you, my friend..." Lilli began nervously. "...Would you...."
"...like to have a battle?" They asked, beaming like an excited little kid.

Mike was continuing to debug his program until he heard Lilli mention having a battle. He shuts off the holographic interface and excitedly says "Oh, I have to see this."

"A battle?" Guinan says, surprised as she considers. "Come here foxy," she says to Fennekin, as though speaking to a pet. Nothing happens. She gestures to Fennekin, which doesn't work either. She chuckles and turns to Lily. "Before he'll fight for me, I think he needs to listen to me first. I wish I had some food or something to offer, or a game he'd want to play."

Trying another tactic, she turns to Sam. "Sam, assistant bots remember lots of useful info. Could you tell me what this creature likes to eat and how I can get that food source for him? Or," she looks at Lily, "Hey Lily, you have one of these, er, foxes too?"

Laura was then nowhere to be seen, at least for a few minutes. She skipped back, holding a basket. "Feed her these, or break sticks off of trees. Fire types love them."

Guinan smiles at Laura, "Thanks. You mentioned fire, so did the ball. Wasn't that just a taunt from the one who gave me the ball?" She runs after Fennekin, holding some of the sticks from the basket. Dropping some of them on the ground nearby, she calls to Fennekin again. This time, he comes over to pounce on the sticks. Guinan laughs. "They say you can use fire," she says quietly. "Can you really work with fire? You're not really going to make a fire with these sticks, are you?" The pokemon looks up at Guinan now and then, continuing to munch the sticks.

"I think they'd have you breathe fire or throw flames around or something. I mean really, a flamethrower?" Guinan is smiling and watching the animal, speaking casually. Imagine her look of astonishment as Fennekin shoots a small flame into the air. Backing up, Guinan shouts, "Wo foxy, we can really use that! Yeah, if we could control the fire!" Guinan grins at Fennekin and the group.

"Maybe you could control Mewtwo or another Ledgend some day!" She boasted, then turned to face the backyard. Hatsune's head was still tipped forward slightly, indicating that she was still asleep. She walked up to the fence, and poked her. "Haaatsssunee~" she whispered. She jumped slightly, standing briefly on her hind legs, obviously awake. She noticed Laura below her, and nuzzled her head. "Aww. Your so cute~" She chirped.
