Resonated with my 5-year-old self, resonates with my 32-year-old self.

(Sebestian sees an enlarged reflection of himself) "AHHH!!"

[the approaching Grimsby and Max's barking send a startled Ariel Back into the Ocean]

Grimsby: [Helping Eric to his Feet] Oh, you really delight in these sadistic strain on my blood pressure don't you.

Prince Eric: A girl, rescued me. She was singing. She had the most beautiful voice.

Grimsby: Ah Eric, I think you swallowed a bit to much sea-water. Off we go. Come along Max.

(For Sebestian, the chef's kitchen was a slaughterhouse! The horror! The horror!)

Chef Louie: "Eh?" (Grabs Sebestian with a fork) "What is this?" (Sebestian grabs his nose)

(After much chaos and destruction followed by a loud crash)

Woman: "I think I better go see what Louie is up to."

Chef Louie: "Come out little pipsqueak and FIGHT LIKE A MAN!"

"zut alors! I have missed one!" - the crazy chef upon discovering Sebastian hiding in his kitchen and thinking he was a crab meant for dinner, The Little Mermaid

Throws Sebastian into pot of boiling water, Sebastian jumps back onto table.

"What about that one?" - Flounder (It's a pipe.)

"This I haven't seen in years! This is wonderful!" - Scuttle "A banded, bulbous Snarflbatt. Now the Snarfblatt dates back to prehysterical times when humans used to sit around and stare each other all day. Got very boring. So, they invented this Snarfblatt to make fine music. Allow me..."

Blows into pipe, which bubbles out sand and seaweed

Coughing, " Ack, it's stuffed! Maybe you can make a little planter out of it or something."

Sebastian: The newt play the flute / The carp play the harp / The plaice play the bass / And they soundin' sharp / The bass play the brass / The chub play the tub / The fluke is the duke of soul.

Fluke: Yeah!

Sebastian: "We what the land folks loves to cook. Under the sea we off the hook. We got no troubles. Life is the bubbles. Under the sea."

Snails "Under the sea."

Sebastian: "Under the sea."

Sebastian: "Since life is sweet here, we got the beat here naturally!

Sebastian - "Jeez, mon, I'm surrounded by amateurs! If you want something done, you got to do it yourself.
First, we got to create... da mood!
Percussion!...Strings!...Winds!...Words.

Ariel makes a face.

Sebastian (whispering) - "Ariel. Her name is Ariel."

Eric, quietly - "Ariel?"

Ariel nods

Eric - "Ariel? Well, that's kind of pretty. Ok...Ariel."

[Ariel's turned herself into a human]

Sebastian: Just look at her! On legs! On human legs!

[shudders]

Sebastian: My nerves are shot. This is a catastrophe! What would her father say? I'll tell you what her father'd say. He'd say he's gonna kill himself a crab, that's what her father'd say! I'm gonna march meself home and tell him right this minute

[Ariel scoops him up and starts shaking her head frantically]

Sebastian: And don't you shake your head at me, young lady! Maybe there's still time. If we could get that witch to give you back your voice, you could go home with all the normal fish and just be.

[Ariel's face falls]

Sebastian: Just be. Just be miserable for the rest of your life.

[sighs, defeated]

Sebastian: Alright, alright, I'll try to help you find that prince.

[Ariel, overjoyed, kisses him]

Sebastian: Boy. What a softshell I'm turning out to be.

Scuttle: "The Prince is marrying the Sea Witch in disguise!"

Sebastian: "Are you sure about this?"

Scuttle: "Have I ever been wrong? I mean when it's important!"

I know this is not a quote, but wow, I never realized how many parallels there are between The Little Mermaid and my life. I couldn't have guessed at five years old, when I became irreparably smitten with this movie, that it would teach me many lessons I would need to know as an Aspie.
*wanting different things than everyone else around you, and being told that the things you want aren't appropriate.
*being different than the 'normal fish' and needing to forge your own path.
*being separate. Ariel doesn't fit in with the merpeople, but she also isn't the same as land people.
* facing the choice that you can be like everyone else and miserable, or you can let yourself be unique and maybe find happiness.
*being so desperate to find your place in the world that you resort to... less than advisable measures (visiting the sea witch and giving up her voice).
*seeing someone for the first time and falling instantly in love. As Eric describes it, "Without a doubt. It'll just bam! hit me. Like lightning." And it did.

And because I know that this is a movie quote topic, here is a quote

Eric - "Look, you're not still sore because I didn't fall for the princess of Glowerhaven, are you?"
Grimsby - "Oh, Eric, it isn't me alone. The entire kingdom wants to see you happily settled down with the right girl."
Eric - "Oh, she's out there somewhere. I just... [sigh]... I just haven't found her yet."
Grimsby - "Yes, well, perhaps you haven't been looking hard enough."
Eric - "Believe me, Grim, when I find her, I'll know. Without a doubt. It'll just... bam!... hit me! Like lightning!"
