It is me! Do you have any idea how much you are missed when you are not here, dearest Krab?

A lot.

Know any abandoned places, Skilpadde.

Whoops, that second statement should have a ? at the end of it.

There are a couple of places in New Zealand that I know of.

One is an abandoned public hospital. There's a YouTube video about it:

There's another place on a volcanic island called White Island, near the town I was born in. There was a sulfur mining operation on the island, until a lahar (basically a volcanic mudflow/landslide) killed all the workers a century ago. Now it's abandoned:

^ thanks for posting that video and the images, Murihiku! Those are the kind of places I'd like to go see for myself. Have you ever visited the island that was close to your town, Murihiku?

Moomingirl, thank you for that link! Not quite abandoned, but still a fascinating place I've never heard about before.
Have you ever gone to any of the places Murihiku mentioned? Have you ever gone urban exploring anywhere?

^^I choose Konohana. I love all the cherry blossoms! I even named my farm Sakura Farm [Cherry Blossom Farm]. I named my horse Epona. I haven't got a kitten yet, but I've been exploring the mountain and foraging. Something odd seemed to happen, though. When I tried to ship things, I checked the next day and the stuff was gone, but I still had 0 gold.
Huh, that's weird  I can't explain that :? Does it work now?
Nice name you picked for your farm by the way :) I didn't know Sakura meant cherry blossom, I just knew it as the name of the girl in Naruto. Also, nice homage to Link 8)

^I haven't checked yet, since I've been busy with other stuff. I'll hopefully be able to let you know tomorrow.
Sakura is also the name of several Clamp manga girls. Epona is also...the name of a Celtic horse and fertility goddess! 8)

Hey Skilpadde,

I haven't been to either of the places that Murihiku mentioned, although I believe they do trips out to White Island.

The hospital was up for sale a year or so ago, I remember seeing it on the news.

Nah, I'm not really one for getting out much. I would if there was something interesting nearby.

There is the prison of Alcatraz. It has been defunct since 1963.

Success! I now have gold! I also have a baby chick named Tori! So cute! I find it both annoying and amusing that Kana keeps saying that he is out of pets to sell, even though you can be surrounded by kittens as he says that. I'm mainly focusing on courting Cam with flowers [and pasta once I can make it]. Is there a way to check how much the townspeople like you [like in Rune Factory]?
So far, I like ToTT a lot, but there are some things that I like better in RF4 [such as the fact that the townsfolk have specific actions they perform, say hi to you as you pass them, have awarding friendship/love levels, have unique character traits that make them seem both real and fantastical, and often have hilarious things to tell you]. I guess the only thing I don't like about RF4 is the battling, and there isn't really a way out of that.

^ Glad to hear the gold is coming in! Haha, yeah it is funny how he claims to be out of pets (and that's certainly understandable considering the enormous size of the village!)
Yes, there is a way to see how much people like you in ToTT. It is seen by the flowers in the dialogue box when you talk to them. For details, please check out this site:

Hmm, I played HM before I played RF, so I personally enjoy getting to both be a farmer and fight and tame monsters in RF. That's what I love about RF, the best of two worlds, plus you have more stamina.
I didn't find stamina to be as much of an issue in ToTT as in some of the other HM games though.

Yeah, I hear you. I am very much a home body too, always have been. And without turtles or ruins anywhere close...

It's amazing how much Turnip Salad will get you in gold. I'm on Spring 10 at the moment.
Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, turnips work wonders in these games, and particularly at the start of the game. Collecting items in the mountain is also a good way to get gold at the start. You'll also find fish and greens that are needed for the requests.

I have a slightly ridiculous amount of fish now. I'm rather annoyed that the requests have time limits, but I mainly just choose the ones that I can complete readily anyway.

ohboy...not sure how to. considering that years tend to feel shorter as you have more of them, at what point in your life so far would you say an equal amount of time feels like it has passed, before and after?

i remember reading once that some 80 year olds placed the 20s and not 40s at the middle of their life, timepassingwise.

Oh right! I understand what you mean now, Kip. Hmm... That was an interesting question! I've never really thought of that until now so before I answer, thank you for putting a new thought in my mind. It's always exciting to see new perspectives I haven't given thought to myself. :)

It's hard to say but I think I would have to say that my perceived equal time would be when I was in junior high (13-15 years old).

It makes sense to me that old people would feel that their 20's were their perceived equal amount of time actually.

soulsilver/heartgold isn't very easy to come by i've noticed? it's my pokemon game of choice for when i want to get into that series, their prices here are uncomfortably high.

hey no problem :D sorry if that was hard to understand at first?

as for me...i would say around the age of 9 or 10. i'm turning 19 in june...as for now, the years aren't getting too short.

oh god, now this is making me feel nostalgic.

Hmm. I suppose a lot of DS games are hard to get now (or at least expensive). I got HeartGold and SoulSilver as gifts when they were new; the prices I just saw on amazon were awfully high. Even the used ones....
I finished HG in 2010, but for some reason never got that far in SS, so I restarted it the other day and are now enjoying Johto again. I would not recommend the original Silver and Gold, as their save files had a tendency to get corrupted.

No worries, I just didn't understand the question at first :)

It makes sense that your experienced time is roughly half your age, as you haven't started speeding through the years yet.

Glad I' not the only one who is nostalgic here! Nearly anything from my past makes me feel nostalgic. Just mentioning junior high made me nostalgic. While I was tired of school, my classmates were nice and the class had a very good ambience.
