A guest died on Dick Cavett’s talk show in 1971. ‘Health guru’ Jerome Rodale, who claimed polio could be avoided with a balanced diet, spent 30 minutes of the show promoting organic foods and asparagus boiled in urine. Just after he said he’d 'never felt better’ in his life, Rodale had a heart attack and quietly died on stage while Cavett interviewed another guest. (The episode wasn’t aired out of respect for Rodale’s family.)
