Uzbekistan is home to a famous football/soccer team Bunyodkor. They're famous for being an unusually successful and mega-rich team (bankrolled by oil barons or some such) for their region of the world, who rose from very low divisions to become the strongest team in Uzbekistan and one of the strongest in Asia, and entertain ambitions to become the best in the world. There is a contingent of top class Brazilian players, the most notable being Rivaldo, and the manager is Luiz Felipe Scolari who won the World Cup with Brazil.

There is a very strong South Korea-Edinburgh Christian community link, as it was a missionary from Edinburgh who brought Christianity to Korea. As a result, many South Korean students come to study at the Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh every year.
