Jesus didn't make my little body to play with.

This is what my mother told me when I was 6 and had been caught playing "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" with the little boy across the street. She vehemently denies saying this and says she would never say anything so stupid. But she did.

I love "The Sound of Music". (lots of great things were created that year)

In Austria and Germany the show is known under the title "My Song - My Dream".

The movie version dropped three songs from the original stage show; "How Can Love Survive?","No Way to Stop It" and "An Ordinary Couple".

The song "Edelweiss" was written for the musical and is the last song that Oscar Hammerstein ever wrote. "Edelweiss" is little known in Austria contrary to association.

hearing theodore bikel sing it in german made me cry. so tender, so achingly sentimental. little noble white flower. sniff.
a fun fact is that one of the nuns [in the movie] was played by noted voiceover artist marni nixon, this was her only on-screen role.

Not certain on this one, but according to the Broadway cast, rumor has it that in the movie version they forgot to cast a Bishop, and used a real Bishop on a moments notice, and said Bishop refused to accept payroll.
