Single barreled shotgun, never bring a knife, even a big knife, to a gunfight.

Warhammers are good. Sometimes I use my pwnhammer instead of my katana. And they are the same weapon. My Sinakutam can become any kind of mêlée weapon. My Sulam can become any kind of ranged weapon. Their normal forms are a katana with a diamond blade and a gun like Alucard's.

Shotgun. The purpose of a weapon is to kill and as history has proven, gunpowder-powered, long-range weapons are the ultimate killers.

Yeah, but shotguns aren't really long-range weapons.

None of the others are that ideal either though. Crossbows are better at long range, but have sucky defense due to reloading times. Shotguns are faster, easier, and more effective than most of the other weapons, and require less training. It can be used defensively with great ease but even as an offensive weapon it still does well because it has a greater range than more of the other weapons. The fact that the range is somewhat greater is what I was thinking of when I said long-range. If there was the assault rifle option, I would have gone for that.

The pattern stays fairly tight out to about twenty-five yards, depending on barrel length and what kind of ammunition you use, which is better range then most of those weapons. If you use a rifled slug effective range is one hundred yards, more or less.
