Driving by a K-Mart in the back seat of my Aunt Diane's car as a child and humming their then-current advertising jingle (K-Mart is your saving place) because my cousins were a rowdy bunch and I was trying to find quiet space in my head. Aunt overheard me and went on a mini-rant about how K-Mart sold cheap junk that wasn't worth buying. I spent a few months avoiding my aunt after that because I thought she was angry with me, as I couldn't distinguish her dislike from K-Mart from an imagined dislike for me.

Never did shop there, surprise!
