Bagon crept to the end of a high branch on the tall tree. "Baaaa-gon!" it cried as it leapt, falling to land headfirst amidst a shower of tattered leaves. It hit the ground, shook itself, and brushed the remaining leaf fragments and the tree sap from its arms. So much for that idea...
Then Bagon noticed the entities that surrounded it. It recognized two of them as Pokemon, but what about the others? They spoke like humans, but they didn't look like any humans Bagon had ever seen. Bagon nervously stepped backward, until it ran into the trunk of the tree. It didn't know what these creatures were there for, but humans tended to want to capture Pokemon like Bagon, and being trapped in a Pokeball certainly wouldn't help it get any closer to flying, would it? Bagon tensed, summoning all its courage and preparing itself to fight if necessary.

Somewhere nearby, a strange hole appeared in the air. Through it stepped a fifteen-year-old girl with very pale skin, black hair, and strikingly blue eyes, alongside a Pokemon that resembled a large white jellyfish. "Whoa," she said, "Where in the world are we?"
"Ni-Nihi!" said the Pokemon.
"What do you mean, not in the world we know?" asked the girl, "Are you saying... that you brought me to another world?"
"Nihi!" The Pokemon nodded.
"All right, then." said the girl, "This should be interesting."
She started walking, unconsciously grabbing one of the floating Pokemon's tentacles for comfort. "Ni-ni-ni!" said the Pokemon, rubbing the rest of its tentacles along her back and floating alongside her.

(eh, I guess I'll deal with the new professor and Pokémon later.)
About an hour after breakfast, there was a knock at the door.
"I'll get it", I said, getting up from sitting on the living room sofa.
I opened the door, and....
I couldn't believe my eyes.
Standing right outside the door is none other than Professor Oak, wearing clothes made for a vacationer, carrying a suitcase.
"Hello, there!", said the professor, smiling at me, "You must be Daniel. Your uncle has told me about you."
"Uh, yes, it's a pleasure to meet you, too," I responded.
I let Professor Oak enter the house, and then he introduced himself to my family. And then he turned to Rose and said, "My, you must be Rose. Your father has told me a lot about you too!" And I thought he muttered to himself, saying that Rose looks and acts like a person named Misty, whoever the heck that person is.
"Anyway," the professor, "I'm sure you're all wondering why I'm here. But first, I'd like to visit here, talk, and get to know you folks more. Is that alight?"
"Sure", Aunt Violet said, "Make yourself at home. I'll go and prepare us some tea and refreshments." Then Aunt Violet left to the kitchen.
After Aunt Violet returned with the tea and goodies, like some Ritz crackers with Miltank cheese on top, and some berries, Like Oran and Rawst, Me, my family, and the Professor have been keeping each other company by talking about our life, people we've met, making jokes, and other random things.
After all, that's done, Professor Oak then turned to me and Rose, and said, "Well, I believe it's time for me to give a special surprise for you two."
The professor then held up his suit case, which opens it, revealing the three Pokeballs inside.

The Gardevoir looked both indignant and half stunned by the recent turn of events. The Mew was, well, mewing in a way that was almost like giggling, and perched happily on Dream's hooded head.
"Yuuup. I have no regrets," the person said simply. Noticing the Gardevoir's indignant expression, they gave a chuckle. "What, jealous?"
They scratched the pink creature on top of the head. "Name's Shashqanku'kiwa. Roughly translated to 'Fireblossom, Destroyer of Worlds. But you can just call me Kiwa." When Dream introduced themselves, Kiwa winked. “An Eternal One, sweet. ...Oh, me? I’m just a wandering rogue.”
When the shadow spoke up underneath them, they moved their foot. "Oh. Sorry there friend."
Kiwa had picked Mew up off of Dream's head and was tossing it into the air and catching it, like a parent might do with a toddler. "Wheeeee! Wheeeee!" the Pokemon cried. "A... human?" they mused in between tosses. "Well simply put, a human... is simultaneously one of the most boring and the most fascinating creatures in the universe. Mainly because... they're EVERYWHERE!" With an especially enthusiastic throw, Mew flew all the way up into the sky and disappeared.
"Y'know every dimension I've been to, no matter what universe there's humans somewhere. It's ridiculous. It's like an infection! How do they do it?! But in all of my travels--" 'Meeeeeeeew!' Kiwa caught Mew in their arms-- "I have never heard of the OmniCosmos. Where is that? What is--" Noticing the Bagon up in the tree, they dropped Mew and tossed it rather carelessly behind them. "Oh my god a lumpy dinosaur," they whispered.
Professor Oak then took three Pokeballs out of the case, enlarged them, and then released the three Pokemon out of the Pokeballs, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
“Now,” Professor started to say, “Since there are two of you, you can only pick two of the three Pokemon here, one for each of you. Once you make a decision, that Pokemon will be your partner for the rest of your journey. Remember, there is no right or wrong choice, it's how you use Pokemon for battle and caring for them as your close companions. So, which Pokemon will you choose?”
“Hmmm,” Rose said, “That IS a pretty tough decision. They all look just as cute as stuffed Pokedolls.”
I'm having a tough time deciding, too. Wow, we can only choose one Pokemon? Which one should I choose?

"Ba? Bagon?" said Bagon, cocking its head curiously at Kiwa and wondering what a dinosaur was.
Then Bagon looked past Kiwa and saw a strange girl accompanied by an extraordinary Pokemon. "Bagon!" it cried, running over to investigate the Pokemon.
The girl stopped and gasped in surprise when she noticed the commotion beneath the tall tree. Her first instinct was to flee, but the Pokemon beside her moved in front of her protectively. "Nihiiiii!" it said, starting to glow as it prepared to attack.
"Wait, Nihilego!" said the girl, "I think it's just a Pokemon. It's not going to hurt us. Save your energy - you're already exhausted from bringing us here."
She knelt and held her hand out to the approaching blue Pokemon. Bagon sniffed at it curiously, then nodded and turned its attention to Nihilego. "Bagon?" it said.
"Yeah, I'd be very surprised if you'd seen anything like Nihilego before." said the girl, "We're... not exactly from around here."
"Ba-Bagon?" asked Bagon.
"Oh, me?" said the girl. She thought for a moment. "I guess you can call me Ghost - that's the closest I've got to a name. Well, that, or Subject Number 5542."
"Ni, nihiii!" Nihilego interrupted, turning to the beings beneath the tree.
"What - th-they're dimension-travelers?" asked Ghost, "Are you sure?"
Nihilego nodded - it could sense the energy still lingering around them from their journeys.
"Sorry, little Bagon - we need to get out of here." said Ghost, "Now."

Dream watched all of the events unfold as one might watch a mildly interesting insect.
The shadow flared up and turned into what resembled a small child with messy ash-grey hair. The child caught Mew and cuddled it. Weird beings.
Indeed.
I am called Wake. The child said to Kiwa. I can eat anything. I write down what I am not suppose to eat in a little book.
The OmniCosmos is a collection of twenty-two universes that are closely connected to each other. Dream said. We originate from there.

Dan the finally decided to pick a Pokemon.
“I have chosen...”, I started to say, “...Charmander.”
“Char, Char!”, Charmander said gleefully, then walked to my side and cuddled on my leg.
“And how about you, Rose?”, Professor Oak asked, “Which Pokemon have you chosen?”
“Well, since Dan chose Charmander....”, Rose started to say, with a somewhat mischievous grin forming on her face. Oh, dear. Since I've picked a Fire-type Pokemon, that means....!
“I choose Squirtle!”, Rose decided.
“Squirt! Squirtle!”, Squirtle said gleefully, running up toward Rose, and gave her a really big hug.
“You're just the cutest little thing in the whole world! As cute as my plushy Pokedolls!”, Rose said to her new Squirtle as if it's her newborn offspring given to her in a hospital.
“Well, then,” Professor Oak said, “Since it's been decided, those Pokemon are now your companions. Take good care of them.”
“Bulba....”, Bulbasaur said sadly.
“Don't worry, Bulbasaur,” the Professor said, “I'm sure you'll get your chance when another trainer wants to have a Pokemon. Though I'm very sorry.”
“Bulbasaur...”, Bulbasaur said as if to say That's okay... . Then Professor Oak returned Bulbasaur back into its Pokeball.
“I kinda feel pretty bad for Bulbasaur,” I said.
“Yeah,” Rose responded, “Well, anyway, since we've got our Pokemon, wanna try them out in a battle?”
“Oh,” I quickly responded. I keep forgetting how competitive she could be. After all, she really loves to play sports. I guess Pokemon battles are a type of sport, too. “All right,” I said, “where do you want to battle?”
“How about at the field at the park a few blocks away?”, Rose asked.
“Hmhm,” Professor Oak said amusingly, “This reminds me of the time my grandson, Gary, and Ash wanted to battle with each other the first moment they got their Pokemon. Such youth.”
“Ash?”, my mother said, “You mean Ash Ketchem? I've heard a lot about him! He's that trainer who's always accompanied by his Pikachu, right?”
“That's correct,” Professor Oak said, “And my grandson, Gary, used to be a fiercely competitive Pokemon trainer. Now he's working to become a Pokemon Professor himself.” Then Professor Oak put Bulbasaur's Pokeball back into his suitcase, and closed it up.
“Heh, I would love to see those two battle against each other for the first time,” Professor Oak said.
“And let's have Shedinja and Ninjask come along to watch, too,” I said, “And meet their new friends. Is that okay, professor?”
“Yes, of course,” Oak said.
Then me, Rose, Professor Oak, my Shedinja, and Rose's Ninjask started to walk to the park where the Pokemon Battle area is so me and Rose can have our first Pokemon battle together.
Ooh! More new beings! Wake said happily.
Dream watched the group approach, and wondered what manner of beings they were.
Mew was busy looking at an interestingly shaped rock and didn't notice.

Oh, hey, I know what you're probably all thinking, 'Wait, you have a Shedinja, and Rose has Ninjask. Why didn't you guys battle each other then?' Well, see, the thing is, for those of you who don't know what Shedinja is, it's an EXTREMELY frail Pokemon that can be taken down in one shot. Even with its Wonder Guard ability, Shedinja might face against a Pokemon with a move that can easily strike it down, which is becoming a lot more common these days. And its 'sibling', Ninjask, actually knows the move called 'Aerial Ace', which is Flying-type move, and VERY fast, I wouldn't even have the slightest chance of ever defeating my cousin.
And that is the main reason why Professor Oak agreed to give me and Rose two of three Pokemon to start on our journey with for safer purposes.
(Where are your characters, Kuraudo and Lilli?)
[Presumably they are near the tree in the park.]
Is this world overly populated? Dream inquired in general. Most of the universes in the OmniCosmos are small.
Bornheim and Animere and the Songsphere are the biggest. Wake piped up, and scurried up the tree to look for fruit or nuts despite having no idea what kind of tree it was.

Well, anyway, as Rose and her Ninjask, me and my Shedinja, and Professor Oak had entered the park, the professor called out, "My, what are those strange figures are. Wait...is that....a Nihilego?"
I looked at him, and then looked at where he was looking at. There, right by a tree, were three strange figures who are accompanied by a girl, a jellyfish-like creature, and a blue colored Pokémon. I don't know what a Nihilego is, but those are some indeed strange looking people here in this area.
It made me very curious to meet with those people. After all, I'm a pretty weird guy with a fondness for weird things, like my Shedinja.
"Hey, is it alright if I can talk to those people?', I asked.
"Danny," said Rose, "those people are strange, so they're strangers! Besides," she starts to say in a somewhat bratty way, "I wanna try out my Pokémon in a battle!"
"Yes, she's right," said Professor Oak, "you can't just be friends with anyone. Believe me, I had my dealings with...", he said in a tone like he wants to talk about his traumatic experience, but hesitated, "....Although, even if they are kind of strange, they don't appear to be hostile. Oh, look, there's also a Bagon here! But that Nihilego….does it belong to this girl over there?"
"Alright," I said, "but I would like to greet with them. Is that okay, Professor?"
"Well," the Professor said, "you can greet them. But do be careful."
"Okay," I said, and started headed over to them when Rose said, "Hey, wait."
I looked back and saw Rose heading toward the same direction, and she said to me, "Hey, at least let me keep an eye on you so you stay out of trouble. Okey-day?"
I hate it when she says 'Okey-day' like that, but she does have a point. My cousin my be pretty annoying at times, but, deep down, she cares very deeply for me.
"Okay, thank you."
"Don't thank me just yet, buster," Rose said, "you still owe me our first battle after this."
"Right, yeah."
So me and Rose headed toward the people and two creatures (Nihilego and Bagon, I believe?), and blurted out the first words that came out of my mouth to them, "Um...Hi, there. Nice weather we're having today."
Okay, that sounded pretty awkward, but, hey, that's me.
Hello! Wake waved at Dan and Rose, and promptly fell out of the tree. It's so different from where we live! Wake bounded up, without missing a beat.
Dream surveyed the trio impassively. What manner of beings are you?
"Mew mew mew!" Mew chimed in.
_________________
"Eh?", Rose asked skeptically, "I'm sorry, did you just say 'what manner of beings are we'? Is this some kind of prop, or something?"
I sighed out of irritation.
"Sorry, please forgive my cousin's rudeness," I said, though I kind of find that question odd, as well, "My name is Daniel, but most of my folks call me Danny or Dan. My cousin here is Rose, and these Pokémon here are our Ninjask and Shedinja, and this is Professor Oak."
"Shedinja!", my Shedinja greeted.
"Ninjask!", Rose's Ninjask greeted.
Professor Oak approached the people, put out his hand, and said, "A pleasure!" Then the professor develops a questionable look on his face and asked, "You're not from around here, are you?"
What gave you that impression? Dream gave the hint of a smile. They watched Dan and Rose closely, and then stared at Prf. Oak's outstretched hand. They made no attempt to take it. We originate from the OmniCosmos. We are here in this world as guests. I am called Dream.
Call me Wake! Wake, their hair full of leaves and bits of twigs, grinned happily. You have funny names!
_________________
"....Did you just call our names 'funny'?", Rose asked blankly, although there is a mixture of anger and amusement welling up inside her. " Besides," she continued, "what kind of names are 'Dream' and 'Wake', anyway?"
"Actually," Professor Oak started to say as he put his arm down, disappointed that he did not receive any handshakes from one of those people, "I used to know a person who's name is Wake. His name is Crasher Wake, and he's one of the Gym Leaders in the Sinnoh region."
I made eye contact with Rose, giving her a glare as if telling her That's enough, Rose!
Then Rose pouts and crossed her arms and said, "Fine." Then she asked, "So, why are you guys here, anyway? What the heck is this 'OmniCosmos' thing you speak of?"
Professor seems to be interested in the 'OmniCosmos' thing, too. "Is this somehow related to the dimension where the Ultra Beasts came from?"
Ultra Beasts? Come to think of it, there was an incident on the news a while ago involving Ultra Beasts going on in the Alola region. Has Professor Oak been studying them, too?
