The Irish used to hold a strong belief in the "Little People", they believed that if they looked at a particular spot for too long, the Little people would become visible and be angered, so the Irish would move their eyes around quite a lot to ensure this didn't occur, this is were the expression, "Shifty eyes" comes from.

It gets better...

Beige areas are Netherlands. Yellow areas are Belgium. The map is of one single city.

By giving a child a folded copy of the map and a pair of scissors, and asking her to make a "snowflake". :P

@Sylkat: Chubby St. Bernard puppies make everything better, all is forgiven! And of course WitchsCat did post one of them, I just felt left out. Glad you enjoyed those as much as I did. :D

Another odd national border between two countries is the one on a tiny island named Märket (← click) between Sweden and Finland.

8O That is odd.

And Spiderpig, it's the result of a whole bunch of medieval treaties between a bunch of random lords and dukes over a period of a few hundred years.

And Just to keep up the trend of weird borders...

Borders like that are drawn by world leaders with really nitpicky, pedantic personalities.

I think Israel's border may be the biggest mess actually, if you take into account all the armistice lines and various zones. 8O

I believe that, considering his absolute power, that would have been possible!

Strange, if not obscure fact:

Some of the world's most expensive coffee is made from coffee beans picked out of animal poop.

Seriously.

95% of people aged 40 or over have fainted in their life. The more you faint, the more likely you are to faint again.

Wiki answers has this to say:-

Why do gorillas eat own feces?
Answer:
Gorillas that eat their own feces do so because of high stress levels due to the captivity lifestyle. Gorillas eating their own feces are ONLY seen in captivity, this behavior is NOT and has NEVER been seen in the wild.
