XP? Wow. I kinda miss that version of Windows. I've just gotten a Windows 8.1 laptop, and I'm still getting used to it.

And yeah, I'm not getting those CloudFlare messages anymore, too. But now, for some reason my email isn't even trying to keep me up-to-date with the forum threads I'm watching on this site. Sigh ... it's always something with this site. :P

Thanks for the link Moomingirl, the article was very interesting! I never would've imagined that that's how she came up with the Moomins, so peculiar! And I never considered any version of the Moomins ugly either, but I guess it's subjective and maybe the first one actually was really horrible or something.

I ended up Googling all the Moomin characters' English names, after you told me that Nipsu was called Sniff. :D They were funny, but Snork Maiden was best, seriously the Snork Maiden?!? :lmao:

I guess I grew up with Snork Maiden, so although it sounds silly, it's what I'm used to.

Now I did some looking up. Of course, she wrote the original books in Swedish, and the original name of Snorkmaiden in Swedish was Snorkfröken - from snorkig, "snooty, snotty"; fröken, "Miss". So they have just tried to make the name sound more English, even though 'Snork' doesn't mean anything. I see the Finnish name is Niiskuneiti. Does that mean anything?

I'm not getting cloudflare either, but the pages are still painfully slow to load. I do wish WP would sort itself out. :?

I'm not having any problems with WP pages loading.

In Afrikaans snork means to snore. 8)

Check out the I love Sylkat thread for some interesting notes / links on the Xhosa language...

I'm glad you are not having problems. It seems very strange indeed though, at least I know I'm not the only one.

I shall head over to that thread shortly, if WP lets me. :?

It's amazing how many odd words I know of different languages by now. Snork.

I sometimes lose track of who I speak to about languages between here and Duolingo. Are you fluent in Hebrew Kip?

I'm surprisingly close to 10,000 posts. Should I begin to feel worried about it?
