Following Laura, Guinan notices Hatsune. "Is that Mewtwo?" she calls to Laura. Fennekin follows Guinan now, even without the sticks.

"No, this is Hatsune the Xerneas!" Laura corrected. Hatsune seemed so happy around Laura, like they've been around each other for a long time. Laura whistled, and a Jolteon, Vaporeon, Lucario and Pidgeot came to her, out of the house. "And this is Sparkler, Randy, Riku, and Sora!" She introduced. A sylveon hissed at her. "Oops! And this is Anna!" She added.

Guinan looks impressed. "How did you learn to tame them all?" she asks. "And does yours have a special power too, Lily?" Guinan sits down to listen, with Fennekin munching sticks beside her.

"Well, it can use its ears kinda like hands." They looked at Skip.

"You wanna show 'em, bud?"
Lilli reached out a fist. Skip formed her ear into the shape of a fist and "fist-bumped."
"See?"

Suddenly Skip struck a pose expectantly, as if waiting for applause.
Lilli laughed. "Bravo, bravo."
Skip smiled proudly and took several bows for her "audience."
"Bun, bun."

Lilli clapped their hands together.
"....Hhhh... So, you wanna start the battle now or what?"

Their grin went nervous. "Well, actually, this is my first battle, but surely--" they glanced at Laura--"someone could help us?"

"Right! Lilli, you stand..." Laura ran over stood and waved her hands at one side of her yard. "Here! Gunnian, you stand on the other side." She then ran a save distance away, but still in the middle. "And I'll play the Ref!" Laura sighed in happiness. Sure, it wasn't her battle, but she hasnt seen or been in a battle since the Kalos leauge, six months ago, and hasnt been recived well as the new champion. Either way, it did bring back memories.

Guinan laughs and quickly applauds the Pokémon antics. Then, she moves to her assigned position. "This would be my first battle too, so... well, what happens when you win, and what happens when you lose?" She glances at her new pokemon with a fleeting expression of concern, and looks back up at Lily and Laura.

Mike was working on debugging the program. "Aha! The loop error has been fixed!" He runs the program with test values and the program responds with incorrect data. "Wait, what? The wormhole's deflection angle can't possibly be more then it would be in a point source model, this just makes no sense. Dangit Michael, you have created orbital simulation programs before, this should be easy." He says to himself.

He notices that everyone is gone, but he hears their voices coming from the back yard so he goes there. "Ahh, so this is where you disappeared off to. Good news; I have fixed the loop error. Bad news; there is now a logic error. The program is making a lot of progress though, at this rate it shouldn't be too long before I can find the remnant of Lilli's wormhole Anyway, did I miss anything?"

"The pokemon that loses just faints. You can revive them at a Pokemon center if somebody faints, and they'll be as good as new.........BUT THERES A THING CALLED POWER POINTS AND IF YOUR POKEMON FAINTS WHILE NOT HAVING ANY POWER POINTS....." She gradually got quieter as she talked, and seemed rather sad as the battle continued. When she met Mike, his name was close to that of Mikey the Frogadeir, who ran out of power points and diddnt quite make it. Meeting Mike was a bittersweet reminder of him, but she still felt horrible, because Mikey, who was just a Froakie at the time, was her very first Pokemon. Calem, who was standing in the back doorway, smiled and waved kindly, trying to cheer her up, since she was apparently sad. Her face turned bright pink and waved shyly, but quickly went back to paying attention to the battle.

"And also," Lilli picked up, "you might see a little green bar above your Pokemon's head. That's its health. But when it reaches zero..." Lilli made an 'X' with their arms. "That's when the match is over. And whoever knocks their opponent out first is the one who wins. Sorta like boxing."

Lilli noticed Guinan's expression.
"But don't worry! Pokemon are strong creatures. If they're hurt, they can get better in no time.
And if they participate in a fight and win, they get something called EXP. That lets 'em level up and become stronger."

Lilli grinned mischievously.
"Now typically the loser gives money in a fight, but since I'm broke, how about we bet over a Poke Puff?"
They pointed at the basket
Guinan had gotten.

"You lose, om nom nom, I get one. But if you win... you can have mine! Sound good?

Guinan looks at Mike. "Oh, I didn't realize you and Lily were working on that," she said seriously. "You missed Lily and me setting up for a little match, Skip versus Foxy." She gestures toward the respective pokemon.

Guinan nods as Lily and Laura shared the ground rules. Again, she has a momentary expression of concern. "Good, sounds friendly enough then. Might as well have them practice before someone really nasty comes along, right Foxy?" She grins and Foxy, the Fennekin, releases a puff of fire.

"Alright, one on one pokemon battle, the battle is over when the pokemon on one side is unable to battle." She said, monotone. She glanced at Calem, who was just... Watching her. Great Arceus, I probably look so sad and stupid... Laura thought, shaking her mind of her starter and smiling, as usual.

Lilli paused, worried. They could've sworn they saw Laura frown for a second, but--
Battle.

"Uhh.. anyway." They said, looking at Guinan. "Do you know how to check your Pokemon's moves?"

(OOC: How are we going to do that anyway? Are we going to have HP, or roll the dice, or just fudge it and whatever happens?)

"Check the moves?" Guinan looks a bit confused: "Are you asking if I know which moves I'm allowed to use?"

(ooc) I think we're just gonna fudge it in order to achieve what we want to do in the plot.

BIC:

"Yes. I was just gonna say if you weren't sure what moves your Pokemon knows, you can check that by looking at their head.
If you look below the HP bar, you'll see a list of its moves."

They grinned. "I-I learned that from Laura's mom."

I don't know how to read all of it, but the moves available at level 1 are obvious from looking at it.)
The stats appear, and Guinan laughs again. "OK then. Foxy definitely needs to learn to control his fire, but we can work with this." The Fennekin cries out, and hot air blows out both of his ears.

(ooc) If you look at the top left of the chart, you'll see a thing that says "Lv." That's the level at which they learn the move. Sorry if I'm not helping.

BIC:
"All righty then!" Lilli chirped.
"You ready? 'Cause I'm ready."

Skip twirled her ears around, trying to look menacing. (Though, honestly, she wasn't doing a very good job. )
