In Goldfield, Nevada, there’s a mysterious headstone that reads, "UNKNOWN MAN DIED EATING LIBRARY PASTE JULY 14 1908", but nobody knows why. There are urban legends that explain his death and theories that disprove them, but the only certainties that remain are: 1. there are no proven facts about who he was or what happened, and 2. you really shouldn’t eat glue.

Maybe he was prospector lost in the desert, and was starving, and library paste was the only thing he had in his pocket that looked edible.

Medieval castle stairs were often built to ascend in narrow, clockwise spirals so right-handed castle defenders could use their swords more easily. This design put those on the way up at a disadvantage (unless they were left-handed). The steps were also uneven to give defenders the advantage of anticipating each step’s size while attackers tripped over them.

Boring activities can give you an epiphany. Scientists who explored what sorts of tasks can cause eureka moments found that gaining a flash of insight is often triggered by activities that require little thought- like walking, showering, or gardening- because they give your mind time to wander to another place.

Nikola Tesla had such severe OCD that he rarely slept, was an extreme germaphobe, hated round objects, refused to touch hair, was fixated on doing things in sets of 3, had to have 18 napkins on his table during meals, counted his steps wherever he walked, and had a “violent aversion against the earrings of women.” He also died a virgin (probably) and fell in love with a pigeon.

Had heard that he was eccentric. The sight of pearl necklesses on women annoyed him.

Didnt know the other stuff. Including "falling in love with a pigeon". Pretty hard to consummate that. 8O

In the 1920's he predicted that "someday you will be able to talk to someone, and see their moving picture on a hand held device that will fit in your vest pocket".

Tesla was born in Croatia to Serbian parents during a storm. He lived a long life, but was a serious hypochondriac and was bedridden for a large portion of that life.

Brick roads are often made with machines that practically print them onto the ground. The bricks load at the top and are layed out like a carpet as the machine rolls along.

The ‘cool kids’ in school are more likely to end up with drug, alcohol, and relationship problems. Studies show popular kids who try to act older in middle and high school are seen by their peers as immature and less socially competent by the time they are 22. It’s called the 'high school reunion effect’ because people often show up to their class reunions to find a lot of the popular kids aren’t doing so well.

Even at that, it seems those who failed at life are not looked upon as severely as those who have never really had the chance to try, even when the "late bloomers" overtake the popular burnouts in achievements. There is always that sentiment, "If you could do it now, why didn't you do it then?"
