After decades of thinking there were only 7 continents, geologists are now arguing there is an 8th. ‘Zealandia’ consists of New Zealand and New Caledonia and could potentially be the smallest of all the (known) continents- however, there is no scientific body or widely accepted definition that designates what is or is not a continent, so Zealandia will only become official if enough scientists get on board.

To preserve ‘in refugia worms’:
Some animals in the flock can be left untreated so they continue to produce susceptible eggs.

That new solar system they found: Trappist-1

The one with the seven earth sized planets.

The news media reports that "all seven are within the distance that Mercury orbits our Sun".

Its more bizarre than that.

Mercury's orbit is 36 million miles from our Sun. The farthest out of the Trappist planets is less than six million miles from its star. So all seven are crammed within a space that is only one sixth the size of orbit of Mercury.

If it were our sun the farthest out of the newly discovered exoplanets would get 36 times the radiation that mercury gets. But since the star in that system is a red dwarf all the planets get about the same amount of light energy as the earth gets from our sun.
