A mermaid fact I think is pretty cool: In Copenhagen there is a statue of a mermaid, based on the fairytale by H C Andersen.

His fairytale "The little mermaid" which the Disney movie was based on, although the fairytale is very different.

I haven't seen Splash. I think the only mermaid movie I ever saw was The Little Mermaid. I've read a few books though featuring mermaids.
