Those who have eight legs or arms to type with naturally have high post counts..

Some would consider that an advantage in debates.

What's the story behind Krabo and crabs (or is it a thing with crustaceans in general)?

Is it like a zoological special interest? Or because they taste good or something?

Or because he identifies with them in some way? And if so how, because all I think of when someone mentions crabs is how their exoskeleton makes that crackling sound when they're mass migrating and cars drive over them and crush them.

I can answer that, I've been around long enough. It's because his star sign is Cancer (the crab). :)

Aah, okay. :D I?m a scorpio so we're practically family then. Exoskeletons, eight legs and all! :) Except that scorpions are cooler because they can glow in the dark.

What about you and Moomins? Was it your favourite TV show when you were a child?

We didn't have a TV when I was a kid. I liked the books though.

Actually, I was in the middle of a massive Finnish and Moomins special interest when I got diagnosed with Aspergers and found my way here. Now I even think of myself as 'Mooms', I hear it so often.

Edit - Riikka, I just looked at your profile. Look at mine - we are almost the same person. 8O

Holy cow, we almost are! :D

I really like animals too, cats, dogs, horses etc. I've always felt more comfortable with animals, they're so genuine and honest in the way they are. They don't try to act like something other than what they are (I feel like people do this a lot and it's so difficult to connect with them when it feels like they're not really 'there', if that makes sense.) And animals are so honest an open in displaying they're emotions, if they're sad that you're going off to work and leaving them on their own they don't try to hide it, they'll be openly miserable and pathetic in front of you. With people I get really uncomfortable if I feel like the emotions they're displaying don't match with what they're really feeling, and that's probably why I struggle so much being with people in real life. I don't know why I went off on such a tangent about animals all of a sudden but anyway hopefully I'll have at least one dog and one cat someday. :) Do you have a dog? And what kinds of books do you like? I'd love to get recommendations if you have a similar taste in books. And what kinds of dancing do you like? I feel like I have so many questions for you now! :D

I can relate!

I've been part of various online communities for long enough to have a few nicknames I respond to like my own name.

If you were walking behind me on a crowded sidewalk, and you shouted any of the following names, I would turn around and answer you without thinking twice about it:

- "Tosh" ...short for Toshiba_286, my old United Devices cancer research forum name (the forums don't exist anymore). I named myself after my dad's first laptop.

- "Scythes" ...my main World of Warcraft character's name. I played for 4 years, and helped manage the same guild for most of that time. I was kind of a fixture there, and on my server, and lots of people would greet me by that name, both by typing in game and on our voice server. Scythes is the plural of scythe, that blade on a pole for harvesting grain, which Death carries with him all the time. I had originally wanted to name my character Vash, after Vash the Stampede, one of my favorite anime characters of all time. Vash was taken, so I tried to name my character (a warrior) after Vash's brother, Knives. Knives was taken, so I tried a less common plural weapon name, Scythes. That one was all mine. It subsequently became popular on most other WoW servers; I can neither confirm nor deny that I had anything to do with that.

- "Veggies" ...short for "EatYourVegetables", my handle on another game I currently play. I also respond to "Eat" and "Veggematic".

- And of course "Theta". I've been around here long enough to respond to that too.

I'm just as happy to be called any of these as my own real name. :D

   It's actually Mech Warrior Online, ironically.

Big 100-ton robots firing lazers and tank rounds at each other.

Whenever anyone asks me about it, I just tell them I wanted to pick the name that would inspire the most fear and hatred in others.

Whenever anyone in game says "but I don't wanna eat my vegetables!"... which happens at least 100 times a day... I always tell them that me and my robot are here to make them do it.

I think that Thetans are some bad characters in Scientology, aren't they?

Dormice, however, behave nicely and sleep a lot in 'Alice In Wonderland'.

Puss In Boots is cunning and very manipulative, despite his big eyes.

Ouch. :D I was at a loss trying to decide what I should put as an avatar and didn?t want to spend too much time on it, so I just googled ?cute? and Puss in Boots was one of the pictures that came up. I liked the Shrek movies and the picture was cute so I just went with it. In hind-sight now, I probably should?ve thought it through more carefully if that?s what people think first when they see my avatar. I?m going to try and think if I can come up with a better one.

Theta, the username makes sense now, public health education in action, I like it! :)

Sylkat - I believe the Thetan's are the evil aliens that are supposed to have taken us over and be controlling us.

I can't help but like Puss in Boots. Not especially because of his character, but two actors who have played him:
1) Antonio Banderas. That accent. Those eyes.
2) Christopher Walken. That voice. That intense look. Terrible movie, but so so funny.

Theta - Veggies?? I didn't know that one!

Riikka - yep, I love animals way more too. I used to ride, but I don't anymore (bad accident, lost my nerve). I have had a selection of unwanted mongrels in the past, but now I have one dog and one cat. I can post pictures sometime if you like. Books - well, I will read anything, down to the back of a cereal packet if it is the only thing in front of me. Mostly though I like thrillers, mysteries and some fantasy. How about you?? Dance - I've done pretty much everything except hiphop. Mostly I'm a ballet girl, but in the last six months I've been doing pole dance. And before everyone gets overexcited, it's not like that. Think 'vertical gymnastics' NOT stripping. Here, like this:

(Sorry, can't get the youtube thing to work)

I'm loving the physical challenge of it. If you have more questions PM me! :D
