26 years!? That is an incredible age for a cat! I looked it up and apparently he replaced the former oldest living cat, Tiffany Two, who died at the age of 27 years, 2 months and 20 days.

Came across this article today: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/lifestyle/new ... d=11637248

Basically says that Guinness World Records has named a 30-yo cat in Texas as being the oldest cat in the world.

Also says that the previous record holder was a 38-yo cat from the same state.

38 years of being a cat must be enthralling.

pando. a clonal colony of quaking aspen encompassing 43 hectares, weighing 13,000,000 pounds and boasting over 40,000 stems.

the root system is estimated to be over 80,000 years old, making it one of the oldest and largest organisms around.

and it is dying.

I'd never heard of Pando before, so I googled it. That's really sad. :(

yeah, and i suspect i'll be seeing many losses in my lifetime as it unfolds.

this is the stump of prometheus, formerly the oldest known non clonal (single) organism, a bristlecone pine that grew in eastern nevada.

it perished in 1964 when it was cut down by someone studying the climate dynamics of the little ice age using dendrochroology techniques. apparently a simple coring was not enough.

it was 4862 years old. at least. possibly over 5000.

Yes, it's a sorry state of affairs  Apparently it's the 6th mass extinction and we're the reason. Wild life has been halved and the number of people doubled in 40 years. And no one dares say the obvious. We need population control. A limited number of kids per person.

I'm completely against killing something to study it.
