Roland really hated to do this but he was tiring. He lifted his revolver above his head and hit Mythra square on the back of the head. She stopped fighting instantly. Roland began dragging her away from the forest - whatever wanted to eat her was going to be pissed. Using the bond he tried to access her mind and break the link it took massive amounts of work and energy but cut the bond to the beast. Suddenly he heard something like a giant insect screaming out. With that he hurried and dragged Mythra away.

Mr Oak stood at the doors (or what remained of them after Roland's overzealous demolition job) and frowned.

"They are not here....wait! Over there!"

Mr Oak spotted the two wrestling.

"What are they doing? Courting?"

He turned to Wraith.

"There may be more to this area than just the Otherworld interface. I think Roland needs some help subduing Mythra, who I believe has just fallen under the control of...something."

Mr Oak then saw Roland knock out Mythra with a revolver butt.

"Hmmph. Unsporting and unchivalrous."

But then, the insectoid screeching started. And for the first time here, Mr Oak actually swore...

"Oh, s**t! That sounds bad!"

Mythra opened her eyes and groaned at the thudding headache she had, lifting a hand to touch the bump on the back of her head. She only had a vague recall of what had occurred, and didn't much like it...why was she the only one who seemed so vulnerable to these attacks? She considered asking Roland, who stood closeby, but changed her mind...why would he know anyway?

Roland didn't even listen to Mythra. He was too busy trying to watch the trees. He knew a beast of the Todash was loose in this world and it would take massive force to bring it down. "Mythra, get ready to run and don't stop running." And then it came from the trees. It had a centipede like body ending with a two story tall stinger and a massive pair of jaws. It rushed Mythra - eager to dine on her flesh. "RUN MYTHRA!"

Mythra had only just recovered from being knocked out and was still trying to gather her senses back when she realised that Roland was looking at something. Turning away from him and back towards the trees, she saw the largest insect-like creature she had ever come across coming towards her at terrifying speed. The command to run barely registered as she stood there frozen to the spot, holding up the gun that she had been given earlier, hoping she might be able to stop it with a bullet...she even tried to focus her magical powers, but they seemed to be blocked for some reason.

Aww s**t, Mythra had frozen up. Running at her like a train he grabbed her in his arms and ran. But it would only be a minute orso before the beast overtook them. "SHOOT THE DAMN THING MYTHRA!"

Freeing up the hand in which she held the gun, Mythra twisted slightly in Roland's arms and fired off a few rounds at the creature, which seemed to have turned about to pursue them remarkable swiftly. It seemed to slow down a little as one of the shots hit the creature in the centre of the forehead... in fact, it slowed down considerably as Roland sped ahead, running alongside the house,
'I think I got it', she said breathlessly

Wraith watched the entire thing, and while she was impressed, the creature still seemed to be moving, and that wasn't good. She ran over to meet the other two.

"While I apperciate the fact that the house is evil," she said breathlessly, "I think it might be a good idea to get inside quickly. That thing is huge."

"GOOD IDEA!" He saw Wraith as only a blur as he ran. Right back into the House. Letting Mythra get out of his arms went to his knees panting. "No way......... we can go......... back out till we seal........ this place."

Wounded or not, the creature was now moving quickly. It was almost behind them, looming large against the doorway.

Wraith was right behind Mythra and Roland, and she pulled Mr. Oak in to the house as well ((Sorry, Quatermass. Hope that's not powerplaying)).

Slamming shut the door, she threw the lock. The click sounded ominious. The hall was extremely silent, but outside the beast was humming louder than ever.

"So," she said softly. "Now we're trapped."

Mythra almost, but not quite, sighed in relief as they returned into the house, wraith now reunited with them. Once back on her own two feet, she looked around to ascertain where they are before waiting for one of the other two to speak further.

Mr Oak turned to them all.

"I think we will be finding what we need in the library."

He then walked off, wondering whether Wraith would fill them in on him...

Mythra looked at Mr Oak for a few moments as he spoke, then turned to Roland as the strange man walked off towards what she presumed was the library...it would be difficult to resist her curiosity in a room full of books, 'I suppose we had better follow him', she said, glancing at Wraith also before pursuing Mr Oak at a slight trot for he had a fast walk.

Wraith swept along behind them, watching carefully. The humming outside hadn't ceased.

"Mr. Oak believes that he has discovered the Otherworld interface," she explained. "It's in the library." She paused for a moment, then realized that her companions hadn't had the chance to really talk to him yet. "I think he's trustworthy."

She decided not to retell his story. If he wanted to, that was fine, but Wraith was a secretive creature by nature. If she had told her story, she would not want it shared. And she hadn't told it, so there could be no fair trade.
