You have to leave the thread and go back to Off the Wall, then from there go back to the thread where you posted the image. Voilà! The picture is there.
Or, click the quote button on the failing post, copy the image URL then paste it into a new browser window and see that it displays Ok. Now use the browser's "back" button to exit the quoted post display then click the browser's page refresh button: voilà, the embedded image displays!
It's like you have to access the image URL by some
other means and once that's been done, the original embedded image will now display.
The resizing tag is useful to properly rescale images that would be distorted by bugs in the forum software's automatic resizing.
I've been using a maximum display size of 800x600 so to calculate the figures to plug into the resizing tag, divide the longest edge by 800 then divide the shortest edge by the number obtained. After this, make the longest edge 800.
So - for an image at 2930x1783 (much too large to be displayed correctly): 2930/800=3.66 and 1783/3.66=487 therefore the required resizing tag numbers are [800:487]
This is useful to avoid those horribly stretched images I see - and just can't leave uncorrected...
But where possible, it's better to find an image that actually
is no larger than 800x600 because it will load faster than some huge image which is simply rescaled for display purposes.
Meanwhile...
Hatchling.
