X-rays were discovered by accident. While experimenting with cathode rays covered by thick cardboard in 1895, Wilhelm Röntgen noticed a light being cast on a fluorescent board across the room. The first X-ray was of the hand of his wife, who saw the image of her bones and exclaimed ‘I have seen my death!’ - so he named them X-rays, using an ‘X’ to represent their mysterious nature.

They would tie a huge kite to the back of a slave and then force the slaves at sword point to walk off of a tall brick tower to see if they would fly. History's first attempt at hang gliding. It didn't go well for the slaves. Oh well.

The play Romeo & Juliet is not a love story.

This group of colonies was known as the United States prior to 1776, just not the Confederate United States we have today.

Everyone knows that every 4 years is a leap year but not everyone knows it isn't EVERY 4 years, there are additional rules:
- if the year is divisible by 4, it's a leap year
- if the year is divisible by 100, it is not a leap year
- if the year is divisible by 400, it is a leap year
This is why the year 2000 was a leap year, it would normally have been skipped because it was divisible by 100 but since it was divisible by 400, it got included.

Many people say Newfoundland (where I'm from) is the most easterly point in North America but this isn't true. Some of Alaska's Aleutian islands cross the 180th meridian which technically makes them east of us, by definition. That means Alaska is the most northern, eastern and western point in the USA. The most southern is Hawaii.
