"Quite fine, thanks." Irial muttered, climbing out of a large oak tree, resembling a sort of tree nymph. She hopped off of the lowest branch and landed, catlike, crouched and alert. She immediately commenced brushing leaves and twigs out of her hair, grinning with excitement at Sindri. Irial found that she really thrived on adventurous stunts like what she had just done. She had also managed to get her blue tunic splattered with mud and blood, which really didn't bother her.
She looked over at Marie, who looked the worse for wear and rather frightened, and called to her, "Marie! We're over here! Everyone's all right."

"No! I am not fine!" Marie said, backing against the tree "My back is so sore and my arms are bruised; how can I ever walk again? I should have just stayed at the manor in that little shell of a crystal forever."

She whined a bit and continued whimpering; no, she wouldn't turn back but for a child it was a bit nerve-wracking to get kidnapped, raised into the air(having acrophobia) and then being dropped back down to the earth. Marie could easily look up and still see that airship circling in the sky like a buzzard.

"I betcha if I could just use that artifact I could blast those jerks right out of the sky." she uttered, turning back to Sindri and clinging to his robe almost in a begging manor "Please, please tell me how to use the power!"

Irial started. Was this the start of that dream becoming true?
"No! You can't!" Irial yelled, before she could stop herself. Marie and Sindri both whirled around to stare at her. She coughed nervously and checked her words.
"Uh, I mean, Sindri's enemies are probably on our tail right now, and we have a schedule to meet." Irial grabbed Marie's arm hastily and her pack and attempted walking down the road again.

Sindri sheathed Bloodbane and frowned at Marie, who was tugging at his coat. "No. It is very dangerous, not even I know how to use it. Besides, I have plans for that airship."
He pulled free of Marie's grasp, and looked in his bag for a minute. The airship was coming closer, He could see three enemies onboard the top deck, plus another one who had just gone into the small, windowed cabin.
emies onboard the Corvette sized airship. "Aha!" He turned to Irial. "Can you climb trees, and are you a good shot with a bow?" Sindri handed her a bottle of potion, which was labelled:

Total invisibility potion

It had a small amount left.
"If you can climb up into the trees, kill whoever's on the airship, and then board it, using this rope"- Sindri cut a large piece of harness, which had been detached by the airship, and attached it to an arrow. " Then we can use it to get to travel much faster."
He picked up one of the dropped bows, and a large quiver of arrows, unfreezed them, and gave them to Irial. "There's only a small amount of invisibility potion left, but it should be enough. It's very rare, but using it to commandeer an airship is well worth it."

Tom had an idea.

"Do you still have some stink-bombs?" he asked Dibble.

"Yeah..." Dibble pressed herself against him, terrified.

"Well throw them and concentrate on that sheild!" Tom yelped.

She obeyed. The stink-bombs provided enough of a distraction so that Tom could rip a portal open and pull Dibble and the Bear through, and seal it again.

"Darn you Ethotoms!" cried one of the soul-gobblers. ((Ethotoms being Tom's real name))

Tom and Dibble landed in a stream somewhere. Which, come to think of it, was fortunate, as some of the stench of the bombs had rubbed off on them.

"Yucky." The Bear sat next to the stream, and pointed.

"Easy for you to say." a damp Dibble crawled out of the stream and took the Bear in her arms. She dispised water of any kind, and was content to go without bathing for serveral centuries.

Tom smiled inwardly. He followed Dibble out of the water, and undressed and lay his clothes out in the sun to dry. Dibble lay down too, but Tom grabbed her.

"YOU are going for a much overdue bath!" He laughed.

"Noooooooooo!" Dibble cried.

Soon enough, she was in the stream being scrubbed and washed.

"Why me?" she groaned.

Nyx hadn't thought of that. The day was almost cloudless - there would be no likely break for hours. Doubtfully, she looked around: trees, grass, flowers, and the occasional park bench. Nothing useful. However, she was wearing a trench coat...
She slipped the coat off and held it out. It was leather and finely crafted; Nyx had spared no expense on it. There was no hood on it, but it brushed the ground when she walked, so she assumed it would cover Garnet with room to spare. If she kept it above her head, it should block out the sun.
"Well..." she hesitated. "I suppose I could give you my coat and you could hold it over yourself. I think you're small enough to fit under it. If not, I could go get an umbrella or something."

Garnet looked it over.
"It's fine," she said. "This will work." She took the coat and put it on, covering herself completely. "Foijin, Nantadha, wake up."
The two bats unfolded their wings and flapped out of the tree.

"All right," Nyx said. "Follow me." It would undoubtedly look strange, a walking coat with bats, but whatever. The people of the city were jaded about such oddities.

She led Garnet and her two bats through the quickly-filling sidewalks, occasionally waving to someone she knew. Her friends were generally dirty: the homeless, the thieves, the city walkers. Nyx had connections with the "lower" order, and they accepted her.

When she finally stopped, they were outside a large brownstone building. Nyx pulled out her key ring, sorted through them, and eventually unlocked the door. She pushed it over to reveal a large front hallway. The floors were light wood, and the walls were a cream-washed tint. A vase of roses and trumpet flowers adorned one corner, while in another a metal gryphon leered down. A glass table was streched along one wall; books, papers, and pens littered its top. Overall, it looked like the reception room in a fancy business office.

"Trust me," Nyx assured the vampire girl, "the rest of my house is pretty dark. You can just throw the coat on that table."

She assumed Garnet would do that ((is that powerplaying? If it is, sorry)) and led on. From the front hallway, the apartment flowed into a large living room. Several red couches lay around a dark coffee table. A TV sat next to a complex stero system just beyond the table. Two windows, one on each side of the TV, showed the streets and lit the room. The floors were still light wood, but the walls were painted black. Over that coat of paint, someone had drawn three dragons. Sheets of colored glass were randomly placed about the walls, all detailed. Another door was at the back of the room.

A staircase rose in the back. Imershia bounded up it, eager to find her bone. Nyx smiled slightly and turned to Garnet to say something. However, just as she opened her mouth, the phone rang.

"How does that always happen?" she asked, but was all ready turning towards it. "I'll be back in a minute. You can do whatever you want." She hurried up the stairs, taking them two at a time and leaving Garnet alone.

Irial could not believe what he was asking her to do. The people in the airship may have attempted to kidnap her, but the fact remained that she was not the type to kill innocents.
Grabbing the arrows, she faced Sindri with fire in her eyes.
"I understand the logic behind your sudden desire to acquire an airship, but I refuse to kill on command. I'll do it, but I won't kill those people in there. I'll bind them, I'll break their arms, but I will not kill them."
Without another word, Irial grabbed the pack and, taking out a ragged tunic, ripped it into long strips and stuck it in the pocket of her tunic. She then snatched the invisibility potion out of Sindri's outstretched hand.
She climbed up the nearest tree and poured the potion down her throat. It tasted bitter, but the effect was immediate. Irial took aim and fired an arrow which she had attached to several strips of the rag. onto deck of the air ship. It landed in a barrel. Irial climbed up, and grabbing the railing of the ship, flipped onto the deck, completely invisibly.
Irial took out her invisible sword and stabbed the nearest airshipmate in the thigh, causing him to fall over, gushing blood all over the deck and screaming bloody murder. Irial quickly took care of that, forming a gag and binding his arms and legs. The other two, strangely, were dead drunk and unable to realize what had happened. When Irial dragged the bound man into an empty barrel and stuffed him in, the other two airshipmates' only response was to burst out laughing. Irial blessed her luck and started on the next two.
After binding the other two airshipmen and stuffing them in barrels, Irial went to sheath her sword, but noticed that it was shimmering. The potion was running out! She rushed into the cabin, hoping to end the whole hijacking scheme as quickly as possible, before her identity became apparent.
The man in the cabin, however, was not drunk. He was considerably older than the men in the barrel outside, and was dressed in an elaborate uniform of sorts. Seeing a shimmering Irial before him, he turned and stood up and breathed, "You! You're one of them, aren't you? You and your friends are not taking my airship without a fight!"
Irial didn't quite know if she was 'one of them', but she was trying to take his airship, so she answered with a nod, and brandished her sword. Her trained fighter instincts relished the fight, even if her morals didn't quite agree. The man responded by taking out an antique rifle, and Irial's morals quickly fled. He was going to fight dirty.
The man fired several shots to her head, the bullets of which Irial quickly deflected with the flat side of her blade. As he fired a shot at her head, Irial ducked and coming up quickly, before her opponent had time to reload, stabbed him in the heart. The man fell over and Irial quickly left, hating looking at the dead body.
"You can come up now." Irial called to Sindri and Marie.

While it had been a while since Alaric last fell into an abysmal chasm, it had been only a short time since his last regeneration, so while not wasting a life by being obliged to go through the process again, his body did retain some limited self-healing capacity. When he awoke he felt as refreshed as it is possible to feel in such an awkward situation, albeit somewhat embarrassed at his carelessness. He was even rejuvenated enough to move back in time to before the sun turned black, and spatially far enough away to join Sindri, Irial and Marie. He sensed there was something important there. He was a trifle anxious however, as to how he would be received, as Sindri and he had met more than once before, and seldom in circumstances favourable to cementing a long-term friendship, though they had occasionally been allies....

Sindri heard Irial, and beckoned Marie to follow.
"Nice work, and in record time." Sindri feebly congratulated her, shouting up at the airship. It was quicker than he had expected, in under 10 minutes.
"It's too high up there, you need to release some air or cast the anchor so that the airship can be pulled down," He shouted. "if there's a winch cage, Marie and Me could come up that way. The only other option is to direct the engines downwards."
Sindri looked at his watch, it was quarter to one in the afternoon. He checked that nothing had fallen out of his backpack, and took a sip of water from his canteen.
Suddenly, a swordsman came running from behind, and before Sindri could parry, he was struck down , and his upper right arm was badly wounded...good thing he was left handed. He quickly drew Bloodbane, and blocked the next attack, then drove the sword into his enemy's right shoulder, making him drop his own sword and fall back. Sindri cast an instant death spell upon him, killing the incapacitated attacker instantly.
Sindri was bleeding badly. Drat, being a Black Mage, he couldn't use healing magic. He sheathed his sword and rested his back against a tree, then looked for some bandages and healing solution which he had brought with him. Sindri felt light headed, however, he managed to apply the solution and wrap the bandage round his arm, but he passed out from blood loss moments after.

Tom and Dibble, both washed, dressed and fed, were trying to figure out a plan to thwart the soul-gobblers (the Bear was playing with a butterfly under their careful watch), when they heard the sound of an airship.

"Oh bother." Dibble hid under Tom's coat.

"Wait, I think they need help." Tom stood up. He could sense blood being spilled.

"Wait up!" Dibble grabbed the Bear and ran after Tom, who had drawn Tooheys.

"Thorn!" Tom commanded, and Tooheys became a posionous thorn. They soon ran into an unconscious Sindri, and they saw Marie and Irial and the airship.

"Holy snap and duck-," Tom started, but stopped as Dibble glared at him.

"The Bear and I will help the sick one. You help the one in the airship." Dibble clipped him on the ear.

"Sindri!" Marie gasped at the sight of blood, now seeing the swordsman dead the black mage begun to treat his wounds without her aid. Had he assumed she knew no magic? He probably never observed anything she did but she was familiar in the light element. Though the two were earthbound she knew soon they would be lifted in the air. If she could lift Sindri she could have made a floating heart but his body was much too big for her strength or magic.

Pushing all these details aside she scurried by him and started nudging his body, hoping to wake him. He had lost blood, something she couldn't replace instantaneously due to her limit of element and magic. Healing spells could heal but not replace the oxygenized blood needed to keep the mind going. If only he'd allowed her to heal him when the wounds were fresh...

"Well, the wounds are still there and I can rid him of those." she told herself, enveloping a hand in a white aura. She spread out her fingers and placed her palm against his arm, causing the white energy to wrap onto his skin and start mending the flesh together.

Irial, her nerves already shredded, saw all that had happened from her bird's eye view on the airship. She looked around and found a rope and a medicine kit. Irial tied the rope to the deck railing, and dropped the medicine kit onto the ground, which Marie caught. Irial threw the rope over, and tying it to a branch of a tree, slid out and jumped onto the ground.
"You need any help?" Irial asked Marie, looking at Sindri, lying on the ground. Irial had been at her breaking point not five seconds earlier, but adrenaline quickly took over, and she looked on emotionlessly as Marie healed Sindri's wounds.

Dibble, Tom and the Bear had watched what had happened from behind a tree. Tom moved first, and went to greet the three travellers.

"Don't be alarmed, I'm a good guy." Tom said.

"Yeah right." Dibble scoffed. The Bear giggled.

"Will you be quiet for once?" Tom turned to glare at her.

"Will you be quiet for once?" Dibble mimicked. The Bear started laughing.

Tom groaned.

Sindri regained conciousness after a minute or so, and saw three odd figures, behind Irial.
"Don't be alarmed, I'm a good guy!" He heard. All the more reason to get out of here...

"Come on, let's go!!" Sindri got up on his feet and walked quickly, as carefully as he could in his light-headed state, grabbed his pack, and climbed into the cage, beckoning Marie to hurry, before the weird strangers came any closer.
"We must go, immediately!" He shouted up at Irial.

"Wait." Irial said, holding a hand out. She didn't know what it was, but she was curious about them.
"What do you want?" She asked slowly, hand on her sword.
