In Gray's Anatomy, the book on anatomy not the tv show, there is only one thing in the index under 'X':

Xiphoid Appendix

According to the section on the Xiphoid Appendix, "The Third Piece of the sternum, the Ensiform or Xiphoid Appendix (meta-sternum), is the smallest of the three; it is thin and elongated in form, cartilaginous in structure in youth, but more or less ossified as its upper part in the adult."

We haven't done HYDROLOGY yet.

A - Abutment Seepage - Reservoir water that moves through seams or pores in the natural abutment material and exits as seepage.

Hmmm. That could be taken a couple of different ways! :) Just kidding.

C - Closed Basin Lake Flooding - Flooding that occurs on lakes with either no outlet or a relatively small one. Seasonal increases in rainfall cause the lake level to rise faster than it can drain. The water may stay at flood stage for weeks, months, or years.

Grout curtain - underground series of holes drilled under dam and filled with 'grout' to help control water seepage and subsequent problems with erosion and other damage to integrity of dam.

That's an interesting idea.

From http://www.abandonedok.com/optima-lake-state-park/:
Quote:
The lake, built for flood control, water supply and recreation, was completed in the late 1970s but never filled to capacity. The lake was designed to hold 5,300 acres of water but never had more than 1,200 acres, Kunka said. Many theories exist as to why the lake never filled, but the corps never did an official study, he said. Possible reasons include irrigation, lack of rain and evaporation. The water was just a few inches deep over the winter, Kunka said. “It’s basically dry,” he said.

Although the lake has never been more than 15 feet deep, the corps kept the campground open for hunters, who are its most frequent users.

One of the reasons that has been suggested that the lake cannot hold water is because of seepage. With far less water flowing into it than was expected and unexpectedly high loss rates, it doesn't see much water.

H - Hyetograph - A graphical representation of rainfall intensity with respect to time.

Oops. I spent to much time writing this response that I got beat to the H's. So

I - Influent Stream - Any watercourse in which all, or a portion of the surface water flows back into the ground namely the, vadose zone, or zone of aeration.

That branch of hydrology which deals with the hydrology of geological formations having large underground passages or fractures which enable underground movement of large quantities of water

Limestone - the dissolution of which creates the karst topography, and the underground caves and features which accommodate the movement of large quantities of water.
